πŸ‘€ **DON'T JUST LOOK AT THE TAX RETURN YOUR PREPARER GAVE YOU.**

Want to know what was actually reported under your Social Security number?

**GO TO THE SOURCE.**

Create your IRS Online Account and review your IRS transcripts and tax records.

Now start looking.

Do you recognize the income?

Do you recognize the business activity?

Do you understand the credits?

Do the numbers make sense?

Because here's a question people don't ask enough:

**Does what YOU THINK was filed match what the IRS actually has on record?**

😳

Your name.

Your Social Security number.

Your responsibility to know what's being filed.

**Don't just know your refund amount. Know your RETURN.**

Tomorrow we're talking about the part nobody wants to discuss:

πŸ’° **What happens when you've already spent the refund...and the IRS wants its money BACK?**

πŸ‘€

09/07/2026

🚨 **β€œMY TAX PREPARER GOT ME A BIGGER REFUND!”**

Okay...but **HOW? πŸ‘€**

Some taxpayers would be SHOCKED if they actually knew what was filed on their returns.

🏠 **Schedule H:** Household employees...but nobody works in your house.

πŸ’Ό **Schedule C:** A business with income, expenses and mileage...but YOU DON'T OWN A BUSINESS.

β›½ **Fuel Tax Credit:** You buy gas for your regular car...but somehow you're claiming a special fuel credit.

β˜€οΈ **Solar Energy Credit:** You live in an apartment, never bought or installed solar equipment...

But apparently you've got solar panels somewhere. πŸ˜‚

**Ma'am...WHERE ARE THE PANELS?! On the balcony?!** πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Sometimes that preparer who β€œgets everybody BIG refunds” didn't discover a secret tax law.

They simply put something on the return **that shouldn't be there.**

And everybody celebrates...

until the IRS starts asking questions. πŸ‘€

**Tomorrow: I'm going to show you how to see what the IRS sees.**

09/06/2026

🚨 **HERE'S THE TAX SECRET NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR:**

By the time you're sitting in my office during tax season...

**some of your best opportunities may already be gone.**

😳

Why?

Because December 31 matters.

Tax preparation looks backward.

We're reporting what **already happened.**

Tax planning looks forward.

We're asking:

**β€œWhat can we do BEFORE the year ends?”**

That's a completely different conversation.

If you own a business and the ONLY time you talk to your tax professional is when it's time to file the return...

We need to change that.

πŸ˜‚

September is actually a GREAT time to ask:

How much have I made so far?

How much am I projected to make this year?

Have I paid enough in estimated taxes?

Is my business structure still appropriate?

Is my bookkeeping accurate?

Am I missing legitimate deductions?

Do I need to make changes before December 31?

What should I be doing NOW instead of discovering the problem next March?

Because I would much rather have a conversation with you in September that helps you make a decision...

than have you sitting across from me next year saying:

😳 **β€œI OWE HOW MUCH?!”**

And me looking at you like...

πŸ‘€

**β€œNow you want to talk.”** πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Tax season is for preparing returns.

**Tax strategy happens BEFORE tax season.**

Nobody told you that part.

I just did.

09/05/2026

πŸ‘€ **YOUR TAX PREPARER SHOULD BE ASKING YOU QUESTIONS.**

Let me tell you something that doesn't get discussed enough.

You drop off your tax documents.

Two hours later:

β€œYour return is ready.”

πŸ€”

Maybe.

But here's MY question:

**Did anybody ask you any questions?**

Did your income change?

Did you start a business?

Buy or sell property?

Have a baby?

Get married or divorced?

Take money from retirement?

Start receiving Social Security?

Make estimated tax payments?

Have business expenses?

Purchase equipment?

Hire employees?

Receive a 1099?

Move?

Have health insurance marketplace coverage?

Because sometimes what's **NOT sitting in that envelope of tax documents** can be just as important as what is.

A good tax professional isn't simply typing numbers into software.

We're supposed to be paying attention to the bigger picture.

And sometimes I need to tell you:

**β€œBefore I finish this return, I need to ask you something.”**

That's not me being nosy. πŸ˜‚

That's me doing my job.

Your tax return tells a financial story.

Make sure the person preparing it is actually **reading the story.**

09/04/2026

πŸ›‘ NO, EVERYTHING YOU BUY IS NOT A BUSINESS WRITE-OFF.

Somebody had to say it. πŸ˜‚

β€œI have an LLC.”

Okay.

β€œI paid for it with my business card.”

Okay...

β€œSo it's a business expense.”

WAIT A MINUTE. πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚

Using your business debit card doesn't automatically make something deductible.

The real question is:

Was the expense actually connected to operating your business?

And this is where business owners can get themselves into trouble.

Personal groceries aren't suddenly a business expense because you discussed business while walking through Walmart.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Your family vacation doesn't automatically become a business trip because you answered three emails from the hotel.

And buying clothes you can normally wear outside of work doesn't necessarily make them a deductible β€œuniform.”

The goal isn't to figure out how to call EVERYTHING a deduction.

The goal is to understand:

What can I LEGALLY deduct, and do I have the records to support it?

Because there's a BIG difference between:

πŸ’° Tax avoidance: legally reducing your tax liability.

and

🚨 Tax evasion: illegally avoiding taxes you actually owe.

Good tax strategy lives on the FIRST side of that line.

Nobody told you that part.

Now you know. πŸ˜‰

09/03/2026

πŸ‘€ **YOUR LLC DID NOT MAGICALLY MAKE YOUR TAXES DISAPPEAR.**

We need to discuss this one.

Because somewhere along the way people started believing:

Get an LLC. βœ”οΈ
Open a business account. βœ”οΈ
Write everything off. βœ”οΈ
Never pay taxes again. πŸŽ‰

Ummm...

No. πŸ˜‚

An LLC is a legal business structure.

Your **tax treatment** depends on how the business is classified for federal tax purposes, what elections have been made, your income, expenses and several other factors.

And here's another one:

**Having an LLC doesn't make every purchase a business deduction.**

That $900 shopping trip?

Putting the business debit card in the machine doesn't magically turn it into β€œoffice supplies.” πŸ˜‚

The real question is:

**What expenses are ordinary and necessary for YOUR business?**

There's a difference between owning a business...

and **understanding the tax side of owning a business.**

This month, we're going to talk about the difference.

09/02/2026

πŸ’° **β€œHOW MUCH CAN YOU GET ME BACK?”**

Wrong first question.

I know. πŸ˜‚

But hear me out.

Before a tax professional sees your income, withholding, dependents, credits, business activity and other tax information...

**How would we know?**

Your refund isn't supposed to be negotiated like you're buying a used car.

πŸ˜‚

Here's a better question:

**β€œCan you make sure I'm filing correctly AND taking advantage of everything I'm legally entitled to?”**

THAT'S the conversation.

Because the goal shouldn't be:

β€œWho can give me the biggest number?”

The goal should be:

**β€œIs this return accurate, defensible and taking advantage of the tax rules that actually apply to me?”**

Sometimes good tax preparation results in a refund.

Sometimes you owe.

Sometimes we discover you should change what you're doing BEFORE next tax season.

That's why tax planning matters just as much as tax preparation.

Nobody told you that part.

I just did. πŸ˜‰

🚨 WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER. WE'RE GOING TO TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT TAXES.

Let me start with one that might make a few people uncomfortable:

A BIG REFUND does NOT automatically mean you had a GREAT tax preparer.

😳 Yep. I said it.

Every year people compare refunds like they're comparing lottery tickets.

β€œMy tax person got me $8,000!”

β€œMy girl got me $11,000!”

Okay...

But WHY? πŸ‘€

A refund can come from taxes you overpaid during the year, refundable credits you legitimately qualified for, estimated payments, withholding, or other circumstances on YOUR tax return.

Your preparer doesn't have a secret button labeled:

πŸ’° GIVE THIS CLIENT MORE MONEY.

And if somebody can magically make your refund jump thousands of dollars simply by changing information that isn't true...

That's not a tax strategy.

That's a future conversation with the IRS. πŸ˜‚

This month I'm going to talk about taxes differently.

Not what sounds good.

What you actually need to know.

Welcome to September.

We're telling the part people usually leave out. πŸ‘€

🚨 IRS MYTH MONDAY β€” MONTH-END EDITION

MYTH:

"I'll deal with my IRS problem when I have more money."

Here's the problem with that strategy:

More money doesn't automatically create more information.

Before deciding what you can afford to do, you first need to understand what you're dealing with.

Waiting for the "perfect time" can turn into monthsβ€”or years.

And let's be honest...

If perfect timing existed, we'd all be millionaires with six-pack abs. πŸ˜‚
