One Big Beautiful Bill Act and Social Security Taxation

You may have heard claims that the new law means “no taxes on Social Security.”
The reality is more nuanced.

The law does not repeal Social Security taxation, but it does create a temporary additional tax deduction for seniors 65+, up to $6,000 for individuals and $12,000 for married couples (2025–2028). For many retirees, this may result in little or no federal tax owed.
