Clients come to me because they’re tired of:
❌ Missing out on money because their tax pro didn’t know where to enter credits in the software
❌ Received multiple letters from the IRS
❌ Being scared to file because they don’t understand their return
❌ Only hearing from their tax person during tax season
My goal will always be to increase refunds and decrease tax liability- legally.
My tax prep waiting list is now open

the IRS allows a business-use-of-home deduction for eligible self-employed taxpayers, and qualifying expenses can include the business portion of rent, utilities, insurance, maintenance, and repairs. The IRS also says the space generally must be used regularly and exclusively for business.

For Maryland renters, the 2026 Renters’ Tax Credit application is available, the deadline is October 1, 2026, and eligible renters may receive up to $1,000.

For D.C. renters, Schedule H may provide a homeowner and renter property tax credit for eligible residents, and the 2025 maximum credit listed by Legal Aid DC is $1,425.

Tax planning for 2026 should start before tax season.

With new tax law changes, higher deduction amounts, updated retirement contribution limits, and expanded planning opportunities, this is a good time to review your financial picture.

A few areas to look at include:

• Your federal and state withholding
• Retirement contributions
• Child and dependent-related tax benefits
• Business or gig income expenses
• Home office or vehicle-related deductions
• Education, healthcare, and adoption-related credits
• Estimated tax payments if you are self-employed

The goal of tax planning is not just to file a return. The goal is to understand your options, reduce surprises, and make smarter decisions before the year ends.

A strategy that worked last year may not be the best strategy for 2026.

Start planning now so you are prepared later.

Tax planning for 2026 starts now.

With updated tax rules, higher deduction amounts, and new planning opportunities, it is important to review your income, withholding, retirement contributions, credits, and deductions before tax season.

Do not wait until it is time to file to find out what could have been done earlier.

Smart tax planning helps reduce surprises and gives you a better understanding of your financial situation.

Remote work has changed the way many people earn income.

But working from home does not automatically mean you qualify for a home office deduction.

Your tax situation depends on whether you are a W-2 employee, self-employed, an independent contractor, or a business owner.

For self-employed taxpayers, certain home office expenses may be deductible if the space qualifies and is used for business.

Remote workers may also need to review state taxes, withholding, business expenses, internet use, equipment, and reimbursements.

A return can be filed correctly and still miss planning opportunities.

That is why it is important to understand how your work arrangement affects your taxes before filing.

If you work from home, work across state lines, or earn income as an independent contractor, now is a good time to review your tax situation.

Good Day,
I just wanted to drop in and let you know I'm now preparing returns 7 days a week. Whenever you’re ready, I am ready for you!
Education was a big part of my life for the last quarter of 2025. I really studied tax law and how I can legally increase my client's tax refunds (or decrease their tax liability).

With that, this year brings new tax deductions that could increase your refund:

• Worked overtime --there’s a new deduction
• Earned tips-- there’s a new deduction
• Purchased a new car --there’s a new deduction
• Adopted a child --there’s a new deduction

Additionally, many individuals receive a 1099-NEC and don’t realize they may be able to deduct expenses related to that income. Others are self-employed and forget to provide business expenses that could also lower their taxable income. To help with this, I've attached my Business Income & Expense Template so nothing gets overlooked.

Call or text (240-750-5765) to ask questions.

I look forward to working with you.
