🌧️ North Texas: the time to make a flood plan is BEFORE the water rises.

Where would your family go? Are your important documents protected? Have you planned for your pets?

Our 10-step checklist can help you prepare your family, home and vehicles before the next heavy rain.

One insurance detail deserves your attention, too: standard homeowners insurance generally does not cover flood damage. Check your coverage before you need it.

A lower malpractice premium can come with less protection for your past work. Before switching, check how far back the new policy covers your patient care. Start with the retroactive date.

On claims-made malpractice policies, the retroactive date sets how far back coverage reaches. How it works in Texas and what to verify on any quote.

Your business has a paper trail before you ask for an insurance quote.

Past claims, public records, and online information can help shape an insurer’s view. Read what Texas business owners should review before applying.

Before you get a quote, insurers can see your claims history, Texas public records, roof imagery and cyber risk. Here's what's in the file and how to prepare.

Texas homeowners are spending real money to make their homes stronger.

Impact-resistant roofing. FORTIFIED construction. Wind mitigation. Wildfire protection.

Now, the Texas Department of Insurance is pushing insurers to better recognize those investments with meaningful premium discounts. TDI says homeowners who reduce the likelihood and severity of losses should be able to share in the financial benefit of that reduced risk.

That does not mean every improvement automatically qualifies for a discount with every carrier.

It does mean this is becoming a much more important question to ask:

“My home is better protected than it used to be. Is my insurance pricing reflecting that?”

If you've recently replaced your roof, installed impact-resistant materials, completed storm-mitigation improvements, or strengthened your home in another meaningful way, tell your agent.

Don't assume the carrier already knows.

At The Agent’s Office®, we can help you review the improvements you've made, determine what your current carrier recognizes, and compare the market when appropriate.

Today, September 16, we honor Mexican Independence Day and the history, courage, culture, and family legacy it represents.

This day is especially meaningful to us at The Agent’s Office® because our co-owner, Mayra, comes from a family whose roots are in Mexico. That heritage is part of the story behind the business we are building and the privilege to steward together.

To our clients, friends, neighbors, and families celebrating today: we honor your heritage and wish you a meaningful Mexican Independence Day.

There is no universal roof-age cutoff for homeowners insurance in Texas. Age matters—but so does the roof’s condition, the carrier’s rules, and how the policy would settle a claim. Know the difference before replacing a roof or accepting a nonrenewal.

Learn how roof age affects Texas homeowners insurance, including old-roof eligibility, nonrenewal, inspections, ACV vs. replacement cost, and quote options.

A lower price doesn’t always mean better protection—and staying loyal doesn’t automatically mean you still have the best fit.

Compare the price.
Compare the coverage.
Then make your decision.

The contract says you must pay. The policy says it does not have to. That is the coverage gap business owners need to find before a claim exposes it.

Texas law voids part of that indemnity clause — but not all of it. What your general liability actually pays, and the one endorsement that quietly removes it.

Your current insurance company gets to decide what they think your risk is worth. An independent agency can see what multiple insurers think.

We don’t assume your carrier is wrong. We verify that the market still agrees with them.
