Received $150,000 from family overseas? A genuine gift may not be income, but it can still create a Form 3520 reporting question.
Hypothetical: a U.S. person receives more than $100,000 in total during the year from a nonresident foreign individual or foreign estate. Review it in three steps: identify donors and related donors, total every transfer and document its character, then confirm whether Part IV must be filed separately.
Late or incomplete reporting may trigger 5% per month, up to 25%, unless reasonable cause applies. Facts control.
Comment “3520” for the U.S. Business Compliance Checklist. Never send tax IDs, bank records, full returns, passwords or codes by regular DM. C.L. Tax is not the IRS and does not guarantee filing or penalty outcomes.
