Thousands of clients and small businesses have an EIDL loan between $25,000 and $200,000 and assume that because they never personally guaranteed it, they're in the clear. That's not quite right — the SBA still holds a lien on your business assets, and it doesn't disappear on its own.

If you're planning to sell the business, sell equipment, bring in new financing, or wind things down, that lien needs to be formally released, subordinated, or transferred first — or it can follow the deal and cause real problems after closing.

While reviewing a client’s Q3 books, our team questioned a $12,000 credit-card transaction that didn’t quite add up. Thoughtful follow-up uncovered a vendor billing issue that had resulted in approximately $38,000 in overcharges.
