Every plan looks great on the day it's built. The real test is whether it still works ten or twenty years later, after inflation, a couple of tax law changes, and whatever life throws at you that wasn't in the spreadsheet.
A good financial plan isn't a prediction. It's built to absorb what you can't predict and keep working anyway.
Three questions worth asking about your own plan:
โข If inflation ran hotter than expected for the next decade, would it still get you where you're going?
โข If tax rates changed significantly, would it need to be rebuilt from scratch, or would it flex?
โข If your income were disrupted for a year, is there room for that?
If you answered "I don't know" to any of them, that's common. Most plans are built once around one set of assumptions and never pressure-tested. The plans that hold up are the ones built with room to move.
