Sharing a little throwback for Family Friday!

This photo is from almost 10 years ago, and it’s funny to look at it now and think about everything that’s happened since.

The team has grown, our roles have evolved, and we’ve taken on a whole lot more together. But the best part has stayed the same: getting to work with people who make the work better and a whole lot more fun.

Very grateful for my First Command family ❤️

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we asked some of our team, "What aspect of your Hispanic heritage are you most proud of, and how has it influenced who you are today?"

Their stories celebrate the traditions, values, and pride that shape who they are.

Life insurance probably isn’t something you think about very often. And that’s kind of the point.

As Life Insurance Awareness Month comes to a close, it seemed like a good time to talk about something that often gets pushed down the financial to-do list.

Life insurance is really about creating financial flexibility when life doesn’t go exactly according to plan.

It can help protect the income your family depends on, keep long-term goals on track, and give you another layer of financial security as your life changes.

Your coverage should change as your life does, too.

Marriage. Kids. A new home. A career change. A growing business.

Those are all good reasons to take another look at whether your coverage still fits where you are today.

“Chicken or pasta?”

The classic airplane question.

Luckily, breakfast on my last flight came with a few more choices. Somewhere between the breakfast sandwich, oatmeal, and croissant, it occurred to me that having options is also one of the things I appreciate most about being a financial advisor.

I’m not working from a two-option menu.

I’m not limited to one product provider or expected to make the same handful of solutions work for every family, which allows me to compare options and find the tools that make sense for each client’s goals and priorities.

When you’re talking about something as personal as your family’s finances, having options can make all the difference.

Chicken or pasta might work at 30,000 feet, but your financial plan deserves a bigger menu.

The Fed raised interest rates last week.

Okay... but what does that actually mean for you?

That’s usually the more useful question.

The federal funds rate is now in a target range of 3.75% to 4%. That’s the rate banks charge each other for overnight loans, so it’s not the same thing as your mortgage rate, credit card APR, or savings account rate. But changes to it can influence borrowing and saving costs throughout the economy.

What that means for your finances depends on what you have going on.

Carrying variable-rate debt? Thinking about buying a home? Keeping a larger amount in savings? Planning a major purchase? Approaching retirement?

The headline is the same for everyone, but the impact likely isn’t.

If you’re wondering whether this rate change should change anything about your financial plan, reach out. Let’s look at your situation instead of trying to plan around a headline.
