In the 1980s I was surfing Hurricane Olivia at Oceanside’s North Harbor Jetty when I snapped my leash and got sucked across the harbor mouth to Camp Pendleton’s Del Mar Jetty and was about to get smashed onto automobile sized rocks. Thought to myself/Prayed “What am I doing here?” A guy and his son boating in spotted me and threw me a line just seconds before Harbor Patrol arrived (they would have been to late).

Thank you Jesus Thank you Lord and Bless my heathen soul!!!
