I am official retiring with the end of this tax filing year … October 15, 2026.
I am sure I will continue to be involve to:
- Answer questions about prior filings
- Consulting in tricky situations
- Answering basic questions
- Providing general advise
- Assuring a smooth transition to whomever you want to prepare returns going forward (most of the records will be available through Touchstone Tax LLC at 212 W Broadway).
- Doing work for a very select group of close friends and family
I have not renewed my permit to practice at the CPA level. I can still work at a routine return preparer without the permit but with more restricted access. Essentially it lessens the costs to continue to work part time. It hasn’t turned off the knowledge, just the title.
I want to travel some and enjoy being 67+ yrs old. I have worked since I was 13 yrs old (younger if you count mowing lawns) and doing taxes since 1981. Wow 45 years.
Taxes and advise are something I can do part time from anywhere in the world with an internet connection and phone. So in a pinch, just reach out. If I cannot help, I will get you to someone who can.
I am maintaining my secure file portal so clients will continue to have full access to their prior records. That does not cost much so maintaining it helps everyone.
If I do decide to close it, I will give everyone notice so you can pull down any files before it terminates.
I will miss speaking with clients to see what is occurring in their lives. But don’t think you cannot call just to chat and catch up on life. My clients have been better than family in many respects. IYKYK!
