The Oklahoma Drought Commission convened Tuesday (Sept. 22), resulting in a plan to release $2 million in reallocated relief funds. While existing applications will consume the $2 million in current relief funds, OCC officials are confident the legislature will appropriate an additional $10 million when it reconvenes in February 2027.

The application process opens October 5. Farmers and ranchers interested in drought relief measures, such as pond cleanouts, pasture taps, water well drilling, etc., should apply now for the potential 2027 relief funds. Projects can be funded retroactively. Producers are encouraged to contact their local conservation district office for application assistance.
