Aaron Rimolde - Northwestern Mutual

Aaron Rimolde - Northwestern Mutual Work and rising costs eat the budget first. Hobbies are what is left over, which means for most people,
they are the first thing to go.

That never sat right with me. Rocket League and Magic: The Gathering have always been my escapes. They are two of the only things
I do that let me leave real life behind for a while, and they have introduced me to some of my favorite
people. Three of my friends, people I met through gaming, were at my wedding. One of my Rocket
League teammates stood up as a groomsman. I had never met him in person until we picked him up from
the airport the week of the wedding. I do not play either one as much as I used to. Not because I lost interest, but because time and money got
tighter, the same thing that happens to almost everyone eventually. That is what I actually do. A financial plan does not have to mean every spare dollar goes to savings or
investing. If Rocket League tournaments or a new Commander deck matter to you, they deserve their own
line item in the budget, not just whatever happens to be left over. I build plans people can actually rely on,
so instead of spending energy worrying about money, they get to spend it on the things they care about. If that sounds like something you want to figure out, DM me. Tell me your favorite commander, or what
car you main, so I know you actually read this.

Holy cow this set is fun! Here's the deck I ended up building yesterday for Reality Fracture pre release. A pretty insane card pool pushed me in this direction.

Ended up going 2-1 overall, but happy with how the deck performed, and definitely excited to use some of these cards for my other decks.

Spend 40 HOURS building an automatic sorting system on the Minecraft SMP? Sounds like a great weekend plan!

Reality Fracture prerelease starts this Friday, and I am excited! I'll be participating in an event on Saturday this weekend at my LGS (shoutout Treasure Chest Games).

Jace has been my favorite planeswalker ever since he was first introduced to the game, so to see a set entirely dedicated to him feels like a dream come true. Seeing all of the cards announced makes the set feel like a love letter to MTG from the designers. I can tell they had fun with this one, and that's going to make for some fun gameplay too!

I came across a sweet tool to help prep for this upcoming event this morning: http://spr.ly/6181BG5uNB. I'm surprised I hadn't heard about it before, but it lets you practice drafts and sealed online for free. I'll definitely be doing a few practice sealed decks before the weekend here.

As Levi Martens says: everyone on LinkedIn is a Financial Advisor. The more I think about it, the more true it becomes. There is so much of the same stuff posted by so many of us all the time that it begins to feel robotic.

Today, I want that to change. I think it's time I properly introduce myself:

Hi, I'm Aaron, and I am a huge nerd. When not working, I love playing games of all sorts, but for the last decade or more, the 2 I primarily come back to time and time again are Rocket League and Magic: The Gathering. If your only exposure to me was through LinkedIn, you probably wouldn't know that about me.

I am big entrepreneur. I love running businesses, being involved in them, and love seeing and supporting others in business. In fact, my senior year of high school, I took 1st in the state of MN in my Entrepreneurship category in Business Professionals of America. I also had 3 businesses I started prior to beginning my financial planning practice (ask me about those sometime. Hint: 2 of them involved the aforementioned hobbies in this post).

Moving forward, I want to share more about who I am on this platform, and not just be another one of the many. This is also perfect timing with RLCS worlds wrapping up yesterday (congrats Falcons on the first MENA worlds title). If you're also a fan of the things I mentioned above, let me know! I'm always game to talk hobbies & passions.

While this is primarily written for LinkedIn, I'll be sharing much of the same posts here on Facebook. Thanks for following along!

One of the goals I set for myself when joining this industry is far from traditional things such as revenue targets, schedule freedom, etc.

My goal is to be "the guy that knows a guy."

So what does that mean?

It means I want to be a connector. I want to know people I can trust to be a resource for my clients, family, friends, or simply those I only pass by briefly over the years. I want to be the first call people make when they are looking for... anything, really.

Whether someone is looking for a contractor to build their dream remodel, a plumber (and maybe a restoration company) as water disasters strike, an accountant to help understand the tax consequences for a major decision, a company to cater their kid's graduation party, or anything else, I want to be able to confidently send that person in a direction (or two) and not have to worry about them being well taken care of.

My goal is for the value of my relationships with people to extend far beyond what I can help them with directly.

If you're someone that appreciates a relationship with a professional going beyond surface level, or are a fellow professional yourself that could benefit from a broader network, I'd love to connect!

A while back I had a prospect ask me on the phone:
"Are you a Roth conversion expert?"

Short answer... no.

I wouldn't consider myself an "expert" on any individual financial product or strategy. So what am I an expert in then? Finding answers. My job is to be the person in front of my clients, understanding the complex emotions and desires that play into developing a financial strategy. This is why I surround myself with the people and resources necessary to take on the complicated processes behind what they need.

I'll be the first to tell a client that I don't know an answer to a question, and pride myself on doing what it takes to find them the right answer. I find it is better to give a client a correct answer a few days or a week later than it is to give an "I think..." answer in the moment.

Markets have been supported by resilient growth and enthusiasm around artificial intelligence, but the policy backdrop may be changing. Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company Chief Investment Officer Brent Schutte explains why sticky inflation, higher debt costs and uncertainty around where AI-related gains ultimately land make diversification especially important. http://spr.ly/6182B1fayQ
