Save the date... We are hosting an in-person event on Friday, October 30.

Cyber Risk and Your Business: What Your CPA, Cybersecurity Team, and Insurance Expert Want You to Know

One in three small businesses will experience a cyber incident, and most find out about it after the damage is done. Part of the problem is that the advice always arrives in pieces. Your IT provider covers the technology. Your insurance agent covers the policy. Your CPA covers the financial fallout. The three are almost never in the same room.

On October 30, they will be.

- Calvin Thain of IntegriCom on the cyber risks already inside your business
- P.K. Martin of Hood Insurance Agency on insurance and closing the cyber gap
- Josh Fricks, CPA of RYBD on the financial risks and what to do about them

Friday, October 30
8:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Today is both Pumpkin Spice Day and International Coffee Day, which makes it the single most important date on the office calendar for a LOT of people.

It is also the first day of Q4 - some might not find that as exciting as coffee and pumpkin spice, but we're accountants, so....

Pumpkin spice: yes, or absolutely not?

Q3 closes today. Before you move into Q4, ask yourself: Do you know where you stand on taxes for the year? Are you taking advantage of every deduction available before December 31? Is your business structured the way it should be? If any of those feel uncertain, let’s talk. We are here for exactly this.

We work with a lot of business owners who feel like they only talk to their CPA at tax time. That is not the relationship we are built for. Advisory, planning, and strategy are part of what we do every day. If you want a firm that is in your corner year-round, we would love to connect. Give us a call before the year ends, and let's talk.

It is National Punctuation Day, which is essentially a holiday for people who care deeply about where the decimal point goes. We qualify.

Move a comma and you change a sentence... Move a decimal and you change a tax return. (Spoiler - only one of those is easy to fix.)

What punctuation mistake drives you up the wall? The Oxford comma debate starts in the comments.

Happy first day of fall!

The leaves change, the sweaters come out, and accountants everywhere start quietly counting down to year-end.
Some people have a favorite season, we have a favorite quarter.

What is your first sign that fall has arrived? (Ours is when the daily negotiations over the office thermostat start.)

Q4 starts in two weeks. If you have not had a mid-year check-in with your CPA, now is the time. Year-end tax moves, retirement contributions, equipment purchases, reasonable compensation adjustments for S-Corp owners, all have deadlines. Don't let the year slip by without having the conversation. Reach out and let’s talk. (770) 495-6200, or email us at [email protected].

As year-end approaches, you may be thinking about supporting charities and organizations that are important to you. Supporting the causes you care about can also be part of a thoughtful financial plan. And when you meet certain IRS requirements, your contributions may also provide tax benefits.

However, the tax rules surrounding charitable contributions have changed for 2026, and proper documentation remains essential. Swipe for a few things to consider before making a gift.

If you’re including charitable contributions in your year-end financial planning, a little preparation can help ensure your contributions achieve what you intended, for both the organizations you support and your overall financial plan. That’s what our team is here for. If you'd like to discuss how charitable contributions may affect your 2026 taxes, don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.

Most business owners would prefer to avoid extra attention from the IRS. While no one can guarantee that a return will never be selected for review, there are practical steps you can take to reduce audit risk. Swipe through for the first set of habits we recommend keeping year-round.

If your business is ever contacted by the IRS, don’t panic. The most important thing is to respond carefully, gather the requested records, and get guidance before sending information back.

That said, if you’ve received an IRS notice or would like to talk through anything we mentioned in this post, please give our team a call. We are happy to help you review your records, answer questions, and make sure you feel prepared.
