“This is the 3rd time we updated our Estate Planning, and it was never explained to us the way Peter of DP Legal Solutions did.”
That sentence from a recent 5-star review means a great deal to me.
Think about it: this was not their first estate plan. It was their THIRD.
They had gone through the process before. They had signed estate planning documents before. Yet what stood out this time was something very basic:
They finally understood what they were signing.
The client wrote:
“Peter took time explaining the way ordinary people understand.”
To me, that is one of the most important parts of being an estate planning attorney.
Legal documents can be complicated. Trusts can contain dozens of pages of technical language. But my clients should not need a law degree to understand their own estate plan.
I often tell clients: Don't sign something simply because I am the lawyer and I prepared it. Ask me questions. Make me explain it. You should understand what will happen to your property, who will have authority if you become incapacitated, who will manage your Trust, and ultimately how your wishes will be carried out.
My job isn't just to draft the documents.
My job is to translate the law into something ordinary people can understand—and then make sure the documents actually reflect what they want.
Thank you, Rodolfo, for trusting me and DP Legal Solutions, especially after having gone through the estate planning process several times before.
And I have to admit, the last sentence made me smile:
“He is absolutely awesome.” 😊
I'll happily take that compliment but I'll keep working hard to earn it.
If you already have a Living Trust but haven't reviewed it in years—or you have one but aren't quite sure what it actually says—it may be time to take another look.
