We’ve had the pleasure of participating in the CBSD Community Internship Program as an internship mentor this fall, and it has been a great experience for our team!

The program connects CBSD high school students with local businesses and professionals, giving students the opportunity to gain real world experience, explore different career paths, and learn directly from people in our community.

If you’re a local business or professional looking for a way to get involved in the community, the CBSD Community Internship Program is a great opportunity to connect with local students, share your experience, and give them a firsthand look at different career paths.

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” But what does that actually mean when it comes to investing?

Diversification means spreading your investments across different areas rather than relying too heavily on any one investment, industry, or part of the market.

The goal isn’t to eliminate risk. It’s to help manage it. When one area of the market is struggling, another may be performing differently, which can help reduce the impact of market swings on your overall portfolio.

What diversification looks like can vary depending on your goals, time horizon, and comfort with risk.

It’s not about owning more investments. It’s about how those investments work together.

Where you live can play a big role in what retirement looks like.

For some, staying in the home they love is the goal. Others may picture downsizing to simplify expenses and maintenance, or relocating to be closer to family, enjoy a different lifestyle, or start a new chapter somewhere else.

Your home can affect your expenses, taxes, available equity, and even how you want to spend your time in retirement.

There isn’t one right answer. What matters is thinking about how your home fits into the retirement you envision.

Where do you see yourself calling home in retirement?

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

We remember the lives lost, honor the first responders and everyday heroes who stepped forward, and keep in our thoughts the families and loved ones whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty five years later, we remember and honor them.

We will never forget.

For many parents, leaving something behind for their children is an important part of their financial plan. But that doesn’t always mean waiting until later.

Helping with a first home, education, a wedding, or another important milestone can be one way to make a difference during your lifetime. It could also mean taking the family on a trip, bringing the kids and grandkids along, and creating memories together.

For some families, being able to see their children benefit from what they’ve built is just as meaningful as leaving an inheritance later.

Of course, giving during your lifetime also means considering your own retirement needs, taxes, and overall financial plan.

Sometimes it’s not just about what you leave behind, but how you enjoy what you’ve built with the people who matter most.

62. 67. 70. What’s the difference?

When it comes to Social Security, there isn’t one claiming age that’s right for everyone.

You can generally begin receiving retirement benefits as early as age 62, but claiming before your full retirement age results in a reduced monthly benefit. Waiting beyond full retirement age can increase your benefit through delayed retirement credits, up to age 70.

But the decision involves more than simply choosing the age that provides the largest monthly check.

Your income needs, health, other retirement assets, whether you plan to continue working, and, for married couples, how your decision may affect your spouse can all be part of the conversation.

The question isn't simply, “When can I claim Social Security?” It’s “When does it make sense for my situation?”

Retirement is often pictured as one long vacation. More time to travel, relax, golf, visit family, and finally get to the things you've been putting off.

But retirement isn't just about the big moments. It's also about an ordinary Monday morning.

Where do you want to live? How do you want to spend your time? What will your regular expenses look like? How often do you want to travel? Will you continue working in some capacity?

Those everyday details can have just as much impact on your retirement as the bigger plans.

Retirement is about more than the big moments. It's about building a life you enjoy every day of the week.

Taking one last trip before summer ends?

Before you finish packing, there are a few financial details worth checking off your list.

Whether you're heading overseas or staying closer to home, a little preparation can help you avoid unnecessary fees and surprises while you're away.

A few things to consider:

- Check your credit cards. If you're traveling internationally, know whether your card charges foreign transaction fees and which cards you plan to use while you're away.

- Know your ATM options. ATM fees and currency conversion costs can add up quickly. Check what your bank charges before you need cash.

- Make sure you can access your accounts. If you use two factor authentication, confirm you'll be able to receive verification codes while traveling.

- Review your account alerts and contact information. Make sure your bank and credit card companies have a way to reach you if they notice unusual activity.

- Leave some room in the budget. Transportation, meals, tips, activities, and last minute changes can easily push a trip beyond the original budget.

The itinerary gets you there.

A little financial preparation can help make the trip easier once you arrive.

Every new school year marks the beginning of another chapter.

While you're focused on the year ahead, it's also worth taking a moment to think about the years beyond.

A 529 education savings plan can help families save for qualified education expenses while giving investments the opportunity to grow over time. Starting early can provide more flexibility down the road, but it's never too late to begin.

The first day of school may only last a day, but the plans you make today can have an impact for years to come.

Becoming a millionaire isn't usually the result of one big financial decision.

More often, it's the result of thousands of small, disciplined choices made consistently over time.

What habits tend to separate those who build lasting wealth from those who don't? Our blog, Millionaire Make Up, explores four common traits shared by many financially successful individuals and how those same habits can help lay the foundation for long term wealth.

If building wealth is one of your goals, this is a great place to start.
