A deduction lowers your taxable income. It doesn't make the purchase free.

If you're in the 22% bracket, a $1,000 deductible expense saves you about $220 in federal tax. You're still out $780.

Buy it because the business needs it. The deduction is the coupon, not the reason.

In 30 plus years I have never seen the Internal Revenue Service as bad as it is right now. If clients have a problem we are working on, it is very difficult to get any help or resolution from them. It is taking months to get ignorant responses to our correspondence and documentation.

I have some good news and some bad news.

The bad news is in 1913 the US Federal income tax was signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson.

The good news is he said not to worry too much it's just temporary.
