Last week I attended the DSDT AI conference, and I have to tell you, the energy in that room was undeniable.

I heard from Alcia Lyttle on AI Agents and Josh Collier on The Entrepreneur's Cockpit. I caught up with incredible local business owners who are leaning into AI in powerful ways. I ran into entrepreneurs who have read my book and came back to share how it is helping them gain clarity. That never gets old. And I had the chance to do a quick interview with The Social Media Store. Stay tuned for that!

But here is what I kept thinking about the whole time: everybody is talking about AI. Very few people are connecting it to what it means for their money.

So let me connect it for you.

The IRS now has 126 active AI applications, up from just 10 in 2022. These tools are handling audit selection, fraud detection, and real-time return screening. Enforcement revenue is up 12% with 25% fewer employees. The algorithm is doing the auditing now.

And it is not waiting until after you file. The IRS is flagging returns in real time, before they fully process. If your deductions, payroll, or financial trends do not match the algorithm's expectations, you get flagged before a human ever sees your file.

Here is the bottom line: clean books are your first line of defense.

AI is also changing how tax professionals work, cutting research time, automating documentation, and reducing audit exposure by up to 75%. But AI cannot replace your tax professional. You are still personally liable for every number on every return.

This is why who you work with matters more than ever.

At Tried and True Financial Services, we help entrepreneurs lead with their numbers, not guess with them.

Drop a comment or send me a message if you want to talk about where your finances stand heading into the second half of 2026.

Tax Tip Tuesday 💼

If your cash flow feels unpredictable, your tax bill probably does too.

Many business owners focus only on how much money is coming in, but true financial strategy is understanding *when* money enters and leaves your business. Cash flow timing directly impacts how prepared, profitable, and protected your business really is.

Cash flow timing affects:
• Profitability
• Taxes
• Deductions
• Payroll decisions
• Quarterly planning
• Year-end tax strategy

In today’s live session, we’re breaking it all down in plain language so you can stop reacting to your finances and start planning with confidence and clarity.

Your numbers should support your growth, not create stress.

Discover how financially clear you really are.

💼 𝗜𝗥𝗦 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗧𝗶𝗽: 𝗜𝘀 𝗜𝘁 𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗛𝗼𝗯𝗯𝘆?

Not every money-making activity is considered a business in the eyes of the IRS — and understanding the difference matters when it comes to taxes, deductions, and compliance.

A business is operated with the intention of making a profit, while a hobby is typically done for personal enjoyment or recreation. The IRS looks at several factors to determine how an activity should be classified.

Here are a few important questions the IRS considers:
• Are you trying to make a profit?
• Do you depend on the income for your livelihood?
• Are you keeping accurate books and records?
• Are you operating in a business-like manner?
• Are you making adjustments to improve profitability?
• Do you have the knowledge or professional support needed to run it successfully?

Why does this matter?

Your classification can impact:
✔️ Tax deductions
✔️ Reporting requirements
✔️ Profit and loss treatment
✔️ IRS compliance

Even if it’s considered a hobby, income earned through payment apps, digital assets, or sales platforms may still be taxable and reported to the IRS through forms like 1099-K or 1099-DA.

The key takeaway: Good recordkeeping matters no matter what stage you’re in.

If you’re unsure whether your activity qualifies as a business or how to properly structure it financially, now is the time to gain clarity before tax season arrives.

✨ Discover how financially clear you really are.

You may be working hard to grow your business, but if you don’t fully understand your numbers, you could be making decisions without clarity.

Take the quick assessment to uncover your Financial Clarity Score and identify where your business is strong — and where you may need more structure and strategy.

Because financial clarity is not just about knowing your numbers. It’s about using them to make smarter business decisions.

What happens when business owners finally understand their numbers? Confidence replaces confusion. 💼✨

Here’s a short clip from my talk during the “From Pricing to Profit” workshop last May 21, where I shared practical strategies to help entrepreneurs gain clarity around pricing, profitability, cash flow, and smarter financial decision-making.

Too many business owners are working hard without fully understanding what their numbers are trying to tell them. Financial clarity changes that.

I'm honored to have been selected by Great Lakes Women's Business Council as a Financial Pillar Instructor for the Trusted Connector Program.

Through this initiative, I have the opportunity to work with entrepreneurs in Inkster and Romulus, helping them better understand their numbers, strengthen their financial foundations, and make more informed business decisions.

One of the things I've learned over the years is that many business owners don't need more information—they need more clarity. When you understand your revenue, profit, cash flow, and financial position, you can make decisions with confidence instead of guesswork.

I'm grateful to Great Lakes WBC and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for investing in programs that equip entrepreneurs with the tools, resources, and support they need to build sustainable businesses.

The mission continues: simplifying finances and strengthening futures—one entrepreneur at a time. 💙
