September 15th is an important tax deadline for many business owners and taxpayers. Q3 estimated tax payments are due, along with extended S-Corporation and Partnership returns. It is also an important deadline for certain 2025 employer retirement plan contributions.

If you are making estimated payments, this is a good time to review your year-to-date income and withholding rather than simply relying on last year’s numbers. A quick tax projection now can help prevent surprises—and potentially avoid unnecessary penalties—when you file your 2026 return.

🗓️Second quarter estimated taxes are due June 15th.

If you are not sure exactly how much to pay, do not let that stop you from paying anything. Make a reasonable payment based on what you know now, then schedule a tax planning appointment to calculate what should be paid for the rest of the year.

Doing nothing can lead to a large balance due and possible underpayment penalties.

▶️ June is also a great time for business owners to review:

Year-to-date income
Estimated tax payments
Payroll withholding
Business deductions
Mileage and home office records
Retirement contributions
Business meal receipts

🍕 Important 2026 update: some employer-provided meals, office snacks, coffee, and similar employee convenience meals may no longer be deductible. Business meals with clients or prospects may still be partially deductible, but documentation matters.
