🚨 PATH ACT REFUND UPDATE for 2026 🚨
The IRS has officially announced that tax season opens on Monday, January 26, 2026! 🗓️

If you’re claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC).

The Important Dates:

• Jan 26: IRS begins accepting and processing returns.( some returns may have been accepted before this date due to IRS initial HubTesting)

• Feb 15: By law (the PATH Act), the IRS cannot release refunds for EITC/ACTC filers before this date.

• Feb 25: This is the estimated date the first batch of PATH Act refunds will hit bank accounts for those who filed early and chose Direct Deposit. 💸

🧾 PATH Act applies to returns claiming:
• Earned Income Credit (EIC)
• Child Tax Credit (CTC / ACTC)

No exceptions this is federal law.

IRS announces first day of 2026 filing season; online tools and resources help with tax filing | Internal Revenue Service IR-2026-02, Jan. 8, 2026 — The Internal Revenue Service announced Monday, January 26, 2026, as the opening of the nation’s 2026 filing season. This year, several new tax law provisions of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill become effective, which could impact federal taxes, credits and deductions.

🚨Two important Dates:
January 26, 2025 is official EFILE date. If you have filed your taxes you will be able to check the status starting January 27th. It’s usually 24 hours after they accept it.

🚨February 15th, the day the Path Acts lift. Even though you have been filed and accepted you will not see a refund date until after February 15th if you have EIC (Earned income credit) and Additional child tax credit. Below is the EIC OR (EITC) table. If you are in any of the categories you will not see a refund date until after February 15th.
