Treasury, IRS issue guidance on rollovers between retirement plans and individual retirement accounts | Internal Revenue Service 09/08/2026

The IRS issued new guidance last month standardizing the paperwork for rollovers between retirement plans and IRAs, as required under SECURE 2.0. The sample forms are designed to protect personal information and reduce the back-and-forth that often slows down a rollover.

Use is optional for plan sponsors, but the goal is a cleaner, more predictable process for anyone moving retirement funds. If you've been putting off consolidating old retirement accounts because the paperwork felt like a hassle, this is a sign it may get easier.

Labor Day is a good reminder that behind every successful practice is a lot of hard work, not only from the doctors who own and lead it, but from the teams who keep everything moving every day.

We hope you’re able to step away from the practice, enjoy the long weekend and spend some well-earned time doing whatever helps you recharge.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Edwards & Associates!

Podcast Recap: Essential Insurance Policies for Dentists - Edwards & Associates PC 09/03/2026

Having insurance doesn’t necessarily mean your dental practice is protected from everything you think it is.

General liability may not cover a cyberattack. An umbrella policy doesn’t automatically extend every type of coverage. And if you or a key employee suddenly can’t work, will the practice be able to keep operating?

In a recent Beyond Bitewings episode, Ash talks with Herb Ford of Brown & Brown about some of the most common insurance misunderstandings he sees among dental practice owners, as well as coverage that can help protect the practice, its people and its future.

Read the recap or listen to the full conversation to learn what questions you should be asking about your own coverage.

Would you ever ignore a friend and expect the relationship to stay strong?

It seems like a silly question, yet it's something that so many dental practice owners do with their own practice. They ignore the important things when it comes to running a business but then expect everything to continue running smoothly.

We had the Dental A'Team's Kiera Dent on our show to talk about how dentists can grow their practices and some of the biggest mistakes she sees them making in this .

Firms may shrink healthcare plans to avoid 11.1% cost bump, WTW says 09/02/2026

Employer healthcare costs are projected to rise nearly 10% in 2027, the fourth straight year of increases approaching double digits, according to a new Aon report. Average per-employee costs are on track to top $19,000, and employees are absorbing more of it too, with out-of-pocket expenses up over 10% year over year. Some employers are already responding by trimming plan eligibility or shifting more cost to workers. If you offer group health coverage to your team, this is worth factoring into next year's staffing and benefits budget before renewal season arrives.
