Do you know what you’d do if you had extra money in profit??

Lets talk about some ideas of what I’d do as an accounting firm owner if I had an extra $10k in profit.

(They’re not all glamorous, but they are practica and financially wise choices that sometimes business owners forget need to be done.)

Which one are you going to do next time your business has extra revenue? ⬇️

Revenue ≠ profit!!

And I really NEED business owners to understand that.

Revenue, at the end of the day, is a vanity metric. There’s so much more that goes into knowing if your business is doing well financially than just that number.

If you’re not sure what to think about your finances, let chat 🫶🏼

I recently shared a substack all about the chaos of being a wife, a mom of a toddler and 3 month old baby, while also being the CEO of an accounting firm and oh, taking on more business opportunities that sound cool and fun.

It was a particularly difficult day when I wrote it, but it helped me remember something really important:

You can be ambitious about your business without needing to grow it at all costs.

You can have a big business AND a full life.

You can be a present mom without putting everything else on hold.

It might just not get 100% of you at the same time.

Balance isn’t giving equal pieces of yourself to everything you do every day. It’s giving your attention to what needs it most in that moment.

Some days, my business gets the best part of me.
Some days, my kids do.
Some days, my husband does. (Some days. 😅)

And some days, if I’m being honest, everyone gets a slightly-less-than-my-best version of me.

Because balance as a business owner doesn’t mean everything feels perfectly balanced.

It can look messy. It can feel messy. And I don’t think that means we’re doing it wrong.

Maybe the goal isn’t to perfectly balance it all.

Maybe it’s to build a life (and a business) that you actually want to be present for. 🤍

Where are my other mompreneuers?? 🙋🏼‍♀️

1️⃣ Revenue does not equal cash in your pocket.

I’ve seen 7-figure businesses stressed about payroll and 6-figure businesses building real wealth. I’ve also seen the opposite. You have to optimize revenue, profit & cash flow.

2️⃣ You should understand the important numbers in your business, not just how much you owe in taxes.

Tax season shouldn’t be the first time you look at your financials.

3️⃣ More sales won’t fix a broken business model.

If you’re not profitable now, scaling usually scales the problem too.

4️⃣ Bookkeeping isn’t just about taxes.

It’s about making better business decisions all year long.

5️⃣ Your bank balance is lying to you.

Just because the money is in your account doesn’t mean it’s yours to spend.

6️⃣ Waiting until you’re “big enough” to hire a bookkeeper usually costs you more.

The cleanup is almost always more expensive than staying organized from the start.

7️⃣ Pricing solves more problems than cutting expenses.

Most business owners look in the wrong place first.

8️⃣ The boring stuff is what grows your business.

Growth isn’t just about making more sales. The administrative side of your business is what makes that growth profitable, sustainable, and scalable.

9️⃣ Every successful business owner I know eventually becomes obsessed with their numbers.

Not because they’re math people, but because the numbers tell them exactly where to focus next.

👇 Which one do you agree with? Which one would you argue with?

It’s possible to have a profitable business and still feel like cash is tight.

Here’s why:

Profit tells you how your business has performed over time.

Cash tells you what your business can actually afford today.

For example, you might have invoices you’ve already counted as income, but if that money hasn’t hit your bank account yet, your cash flow is telling a different story.

That’s why looking at your bank balance alone doesn’t always give you the full picture. And it’s why we don’t just help our clients keep their books up to date, we help them understand what their numbers are actually telling them.

Because when you know both your profit and your cash position, you can make business decisions with a whole lot more confidence.

Scams aren’t new, but they are getting smarter.

And they’re not just targeting “unsuspecting people.”
They’re targeting business owners, professionals, and anyone moving quickly online.

Most of the time, they rely on creating urgency so you act before you think.

That’s why being aware is what matters most. If you know what to look for, you can avoid it.

A few simple habits go a long way:
– Don’t click suspicious links
– Double check website URLs
– Be cautious with unexpected calls
– Don’t make rushed financial payments
