Tax planning isn't just paperwork β€” it's real money staying in your pocket.

This week, a deep-dive planning session with a high-W2 client uncovered strategies projected to save roughly $40,000 this year β€” and $60,000 next year.
That's what happens when tax planning happens before December 31st instead of during a rushed filing season in April.

So the biggest tax mistake isn't a wrong number β€” it's waiting too long to plan.

Q3 estimated taxes are due TODAY β€” September 15.
Self-employed? Freelancer? S-corp shareholder? Landlord? High-W2 earner with RSU vesting? If you have income that wasn't fully withheld, don't let today slip by. ⏳

RSU vests are often under-withheld at the flat supplemental rate β€” a bigger vesting year can mean a bigger gap than you'd expect. πŸ’‘

Pay via Form 1040-ES β€” online, phone, or mail. Not sure what you owe? Message us now, before the penalty clock starts. πŸ’Έ

Time to schedule your mid-year check-in:

Don't wait until January to review your financials.

A quick financial check-up ‐ like health check-up - in the summer or fall, lets you make adjustments while you still have time before the year closes.

At the end of the day, the goal is simple β€” help you keep more of what you earn, so you can focus on what you do best: running your business and living your life, not wrestling with spreadsheets.

How often do you check in on your financial health throughout the year?

If you want to know what a proactive approach could mean for your business, let's talk.

New Federal Scholarship Tax Credit

The IRS yesterday announced that 27 states have opted into the new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit (FSTC), created under the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. Eligible taxpayers can now claim a federal tax credit of up to $1,700 for contributions to approved Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs) that fund K–12 scholarships.
California is not currently participating, but if you have ties to a participating state β€” or are planning a move β€” this could be a meaningful credit worth exploring before year-end.

⏰ Deadline: July 10, 2026
A recent federal court ruling may entitle you to a refund of IRS penalties you paid during the COVID period β€” or a reduction in what you still owe.
Here's what happened: In Kwong v. United States, a court found that late-filing and late-payment penalties for tax years 2019–2022 should have been paused during the COVID-19 federal disaster period. Some taxpayers were charged anyway.
If that includes you, a formal claim can still be filed β€” but only until July 10, 2026.
If you're not sure whether this applies to you, that's exactly what we are here for.

πŸ“… Q2 Estimated Tax Deadline: June 15, 2026

This payment covers income earned April 1 – May 31, 2026.

If you're self-employed, freelancing, or had RSUs vest, stock sales, or option exercises this quarter β€” your paycheck withholding may not be enough. Estimated payments are how you stay ahead of a surprise tax bill.

Missing the deadline can result in underpayment penalties, even if you end up with a refund when you file.

How to pay:
β†’ IRS Direct Pay: irs.gov/payments
β†’ IRS Online Account
β†’ Form 1040-ES by mail

Not sure what you owe?
This is a good time for a mid-year tax projection.

This comes up more than you'd think.

Many people open an LLC expecting to write off everything β€” home office, mortgage interest, property taxes, depreciation.
And then are surprised when it doesn't work that way.

An LLC is a legal structure.

Tax savings come from strategy, not just registration paperwork.

The home office rules alone are much stricter than most people realize.
If you're forming an LLC mainly for tax reasons β€” Contact your CPA first. πŸ’‘
