If a potential buyer asked to look closely at your numbers tomorrow, how confident would you be in what they would find?
In an acquisition, buyers can go considerably deeper than consolidated financial statements.
They may look closely at individual restaurant P&Ls, POS data, bank deposits, payroll, royalties and location-level trends. Ultimately, they want to know whether the earnings being reported reflect what’s really happening across the business.
That’s why good financial processes shouldn’t begin when you decide to sell.
Accurate books, consistent reporting and visibility at restaurant level are valuable when you’re running 10, 50 or 100 locations today.
If an exit becomes part of the plan later, you’ll be very glad that the foundation is already there.
