You bought the software, filed the LLC, made the logo, and ordered the business cards. Ok friend! Clock it! Now, where is your EFIN? 🫢
A PTIN and an EFIN are not the same thing.
Your PTIN identifies you as the person who prepared a federal tax return for pay. Your firm’s EFIN identifies it as an authorized IRS e-file provider. This type of information is not what you want to discover two weeks before filing season. The IRS says EFIN approval can take up to 45 days because the application includes a suitability review of the firm and its responsible officials.
All facts, friend. They do whole background checks, fingerprints, etc. Starting a legitimate tax-preparation business takes more than knowing how to enter numbers into software.
My one-on-one mentorship helps aspiring tax-business owners work through the setup: PTIN and EFIN, business structure, software, bank products, pricing, compliance, tax training, marketing, client systems, and ongoing support.
