For small business owners, this may be a good time to review:

Every situation is different, so a quick review of your numbers before December 31 can help you make informed decisions for your business taxes.

If you are a Farnsworth & Associates PC client in Colorado Springs and would like to schedule a year-end tax planning check-in, please give us a call. We are here to help make tax preparation feel more manageable.

Employee or independent contractor? Getting the classification right matters more than many small business owners realize.

It can affect payroll taxes, tax reporting, benefits, and how much control you have over the work being performed. A simple title or agreement is not always enough—the working relationship itself matters.

Swipe through for a quick look at the key differences and why proper worker classification is important for your business.

If you have questions about payroll setup, worker classification, or business tax responsibilities, my team and I are here to help.

August is a good time to pause, get organized, and look ahead before the year-end rush begins.

Whether you are managing quarterly tax payments, keeping business records up to date, or simply setting aside time for your individual tax documents, small steps now can make tax season feel far less stressful later.

At Farnsworth & Associates PC, I believe good planning starts with a clear vision—and consistent follow-through.

Every goal matters—but so does the person beside you.

During the final stretch of the Boston Marathon, two runners paused their own race to help a fellow competitor who was struggling with severe leg cramps. Together, they supported him across the finish line.

It is a powerful reminder that kindness, teamwork, and showing up for others can matter more than the clock. We are grateful for the people in our Colorado Springs community who choose to help, encourage, and support one another every day.

Small business owners: Q4 will be here before we know it, and a little planning now can make year-end much less stressful.

If you are one of my small business clients and would like to talk through your year-end tax planning, please reach out. I am here to help you stay organized and prepared.

A clear understanding of your business finances can make everyday decisions feel far less stressful.

Here are a few accounting terms worth keeping in your small-business toolbox:

• Equity: What remains after liabilities are subtracted from business assets.
• Debt-to-equity ratio: A comparison of business debt to owner equity.
• Reconciliation: Matching your records with supporting documents, such as bank or credit card statements.
• Retained earnings: Profit kept in the business rather than distributed to owners.
• Liquidity: How readily your business can cover short-term obligations.
• Return on investment (ROI): The return earned compared with the cost of an investment.

These numbers can help guide decisions about cash flow, financing, growth, and more. If you are unsure what they mean for your business taxes or financial planning, I am always happy to help you navigate the details.

What accounting term would you like us to explain next?
