In 2024, it is unfortunate that many politicians remain ignorant about why an anthem specifically for African Americans had to be composed. This song served as a powerful symbol of solidarity amongst African Americans throughout their battle against racial segregation and discrimination. I feel sorry for any children and grandchildren these politicians may have if they continue in such ignorance!

Some NFL fans tuning in to watch Super Bowl LVIII were upset with the Black national anthem being played before the game. It was a part of the NFL's pregame festivities.

There is a lot of talent among young people who know how to use technology to help companies and organizations do their work more efficiently, and there are companies and organizations needing help, but don't have the funds to hire such tech-savvy young people. I don't have much to say now that I have been honored as the senior pastor of a small mission church in College Station, Texas. It takes a lot of praying, fasting, giving, and community outreach to build up a small church. Plus, not many have extra money to hire me to research and/or write grants for them!

Added to my plate is the growing opportunity to partner with others doing wonderful ministry in places like Uganda, and then staying in contact with others needing help beyond our community in other parts of the world. And, for income, I am back working with a family law firm several hours a day. For grant information and sharing of grant info, I stay connected to urbanawarenessusa.org and a few other sources.

YOU are invited to a special ZOOM presentation this coming Saturday at 5 p.m. to learn about the importance of preserving the historic Houston Light Guard Armory (1925) now owned by the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum. In the late 1880s, this all-white militia group partnered with an African American drummer, and both gained notoriety. The preservation of this armory will also expose the Baker family connection to both the armory and Rice University!
