If you’ve received a letter from the IRS CP321J is an actual IRS notice, and it is not a notice saying you owe additional taxes.
According to the IRS, Notice CP321J is about the new federal Saver’s Match. The IRS is sending it to people who either:
* Claimed the Saver’s Credit on their 2025 tax return, or
* Had 2025 income in the range that could make them eligible for the new Saver’s Match.
What is the Saver’s Match?
Beginning in 2027, the Saver’s Match replaces the Saver’s Credit. If you qualify and contribute to an eligible IRA or retirement plan, the federal government can contribute up to $1,000 per year directly into your retirement account.
The CP321J is essentially an informational/eligibility notice encouraging you to consider making retirement contributions. It doesn’t mean the IRS has found a problem with your tax return.
