The strongest CDI teams don’t just have good processes and workflows. They thrive in an environment where people can do their best work.
At CDIQ Consulting, we believe meaningful CDI improvement goes beyond reviewing workflows, AI-technology, metrics, and documentation practices.
It also means looking at the corporate environment surrounding the team.
Are people comfortable asking questions?
Do CDI specialists feel heard and supported?
Is feedback constructive?
Are expectations clear?
Do leaders create trust, collaboration, and opportunities for growth?
These factors have very real operational consequences.
When CDI professionals feel valued, supported, and connected to the purpose behind their work, teams communicate better, adapt more effectively, strengthen physician relationships, and are better positioned to sustain improvement.
That is why our consulting approach is not simply about identifying what needs to change.
We help create the conditions where CDI teams can flourish through focused CDI training, thoughtful professional coaching, and support that strengthens both people and performance.
Because sustainable CDI excellence is built through both strong systems and strong teams.

Answering a CCDS Exam practice question incorrectly can be one of the most useful parts of studying.
Because the important question is not simply:
❌ "Why was my answer wrong?"
It is:
🔎 "Why did that answer look right to me in the first place?"
"Did I misapply a coding rule?"
"Did I overlook one word in the scenario?"
"Did I answer the clinical question when the exam was really testing sequencing?"
"Did I choose something that was technically true, but did not actually answer what was being asked?"
"Or, did I uncover a genuine gap in my CDI knowledge?"
Those are very different problems, and they require very different corrections.
That is why our Live CCDS Exam Prep classes spend so much time examining the reasoning behind each answer, rather than simply revealing A, B, C, or D and moving on.
A wrong answer should teach you something.
So should a right answer that was reached using a faulty rationale.
Ask yourself, "would I get a similar question correct if asked a little differently"? If you are unsure, your concepts may need to be reinforced.
That is the kind of learning we see happening in our live online classrooms.
Our next Live CCDS Exam Prep cohort begins Monday, September 7 at 7:00 PM ET.

CDI-relevant clinical knowledge is essential for the CCDS exam, but it is only part of what candidates must master.
Candidates must also navigate documentation requirements, coding guidance, reimbursement rules, quality considerations, program compliance, and CDI metrics. One CCDS Exam question may test several of these focus areas simultaneously.
That breadth is reflected in our Live CCDS Exam Prep Course, especially in the way we analyze practice questions in real time.
Course instructor Dr. Tarman Aziz, MD, CCDS, brings experience across multiple areas of CDI and the revenue cycle:
• Physician with US residency training in Internal Medicine
• 25 years of teaching experience in medical, nursing, and physician assistant programs
• 8 years of curriculum design and delivery experience for CDI Apprenticeships and CDIP / CCDS Exam preparation courses
• Inpatient CDI production experience, including management roles optimizing CDI department performance
• Physician advisor and documentation champion experience
• Associate director for revenue cycle consulting firms
• Medical Director for CDI technology organizations
That range of experience matters to instructional design because the CCDS exam requires more than factual recall. Candidates must recognize which body of knowledge applies to the question and then apply the appropriate reasoning.
A clinically accurate statement, for example, might not serve as the single best correct answer available if the question's intent focuses on a nuance of ICD-10 CM/PCS coding, compliant query practice, value based reimbursement, or denials prevention strategy.
In our live course, we focus not only on identifying the correct answer, but also on understanding why it is the best answer and how it is distinguished from the plausible alternatives. We also identify the other CDI contexts where distractor answer choices may be correct, allowing for additional CDI concept review.
Our next small-cohort CCDS Exam Prep session begins this Monday September 7, 2026, with live instruction and direct interaction with Dr. Aziz throughout the course.
