Beginning July 4, 2026, families can begin funding a new investment account designed to help children build long-term savings. Eligible children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 may also qualify for a one-time $1,000 government-funded contribution to help jump-start their savings.

As with any new financial planning opportunity, it's important to understand how these accounts work, who qualifies, and where they may fit alongside existing savings vehicles such as 529 education savings plans and Uniform Transfers to Minors Act (UTMA) accounts.
