TIP. I walked the SHRM trade-show floor last week, and here's what stood out: The workers who "stood out"!

Be on the edge, or just outside, the footprint.

Smile.

Make eye contact at 15' away, say a unique comment at 7'. Most will slow down and talk.

IF you do just this, you're already better than 90% of the others. Whoever hired you, will notice, and want you back in the future!

My favorite place to do this is conventions where first names are big on name tags. I would stop at booths, talk to their workers, then join them in pulling people in:

"Jill, good morning! Great to see you today"

Jill comes over, "Good morning (smiling), do I know you somehow?"

"I'm not sure, but we do now!" and then naturally they'll ask, or you share, about the company/product.

The booths I did this at said I was really good, one even wanted to hire me for marketing. Could've been the end of TH!

This job is easy, fun, and what you make of it. Anyone can do it if you're friendly, punctual, can remember a few talking points, reliable. It's these small tips that you learn along the way that makes the difference!
