If you’re already receiving Social Security, you may be wondering how much your benefit could increase in 2027.

Right now, there are plenty of projections floating around, but the official 2027 cost-of-living adjustment has not been announced yet.

The final inflation data used in the calculation is expected in October, which means retirees should be careful about planning around estimates before the actual number is confirmed.

The good news? You don’t have to figure all of this out alone. Understanding how Social Security works, when to file, and how your benefits fit into your retirement plan can make these decisions feel a lot less overwhelming.

It’s funny how far away retirement can feel… until it isn’t.

One day, Social Security is something your parents talk about. Then suddenly, you’re the one asking questions about when to claim, how much you’ll receive, and how it all fits into retirement.

That’s why I love teaching Social Security classes. These decisions aren’t just numbers on a page. They affect real people, real families, and the retirement they’ve spent decades working toward.

And yes, that’s my mom, Bear, making an appearance in the presentation. ❤️

The earlier you understand how Social Security works, the more prepared you can be when it’s your turn to make those decisions.

When you claim Social Security can have a much bigger impact than it first appears. 💰

A difference of just a few hundred dollars each month may not sound dramatic, but those dollars can add up over decades, especially once future cost-of-living adjustments and spousal benefits are considered.

The right filing age is not the same for everyone. Seeing the actual numbers side by side can help you decide whether claiming sooner or waiting makes the most sense for your retirement.

When should you actually start Social Security? 🤔

You can take it as early as 62, some people wait until full retirement age, and others hold out for a bigger check at 70. The tricky part? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

Your health, income needs, and long-term plans all play a role — and once you file, that decision matters for the rest of your life. 💡

That’s why we break this down in our online and in-person classes, so you’re not guessing or relying on bad advice.
