Most of us set goals in January and forget about them by March. I've done it more times than I'd like to admit.
So I'm trying something different.
I'm reading The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington, and I'm putting it into action starting this week.
The big idea is simple: stop planning in years and start planning in 12-week sprints. A year feels like plenty of time, so we put things off.
Twelve weeks is long enough to make real progress and short enough that there's no "I'll get to it later."
Before picking any goals, the book has you write out what you want your life to look like 10 years from now and 3 years from now.
Faith, family, health, business, all of it.
Then you work backward and ask, "What has to happen in the next 12 weeks to move me toward that?"
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧:
1. Get from 235 lbs to 215 lbs. That means lifting 4 days a week, walking on my off days, and no alcohol.
2. Spend 30 minutes in the Bible and 30 minutes reading a personal development book every single day.
3. Grow my business with new clients, through daily outreach and real conversations with business owners.
The part that hit me hardest is how you measure it.
Every week, I score myself on whether I actually did what I said I'd do.
Not on results, on ex*****on.
If I do the work, the results follow. The target is 85% every week.
I spend my days helping trades contractors set goals, build plans and track the numbers that matter.
This is me holding myself to the same standard.
I know I'm a lot more likely to follow through when people are watching.
So every Monday for the next 12 weeks, I'll post my score from the week before and where I'm at.
Week 1 runs October 19 through October 25. The 12 weeks wrap up on January 10.
Hold me to it.
