I’m RaeAnn, mom of 3, vinyl collector, music blasting car singer, sunset walk enthusiast, and the founder of Stout Bookkeeping.
I started Stout Bookkeeping because business owners deserve books they can actually trust without spending their nights trying to figure out QuickBooks themselves.
Around here, we like clean books, clear numbers, and making bookkeeping feel a whole lot less intimidating.

Late night business owner check-in 😂

Bookkeepers have a very specific kind of patience. 😂
Because behind every:

“WTF is this transaction?”
“Why did they transfer $10,000?”
“Is this Amazon charge business or personal?”
…is usually a perfectly normal business owner who was busy running their business and had absolutely no idea their bookkeeper would someday need the backstory.

No judgment. Mostly. 👀

Here's a quick comparison:

Standard mileage:

- Deduct a set IRS rate for each business mile driven.
- Simpler record keeping.
- Best if you don't have many vehicle expenses.

Actual expenses:

- Deduct the business portion of actual vehicle costs like gas, insurance, repairs, maintenance, registration, and depreciation.
- Requires detailed records and receipts.
- May result in a larger deduction for some businesses.

If you use your personal vehicle for business, be sure you're using the correct rate based on the date the miles were driven.

Due to rising fuel prices, the IRS has increased the standard business mileage rate for the remainder of 2026.

Updated business mileage rates:

January 1 to June 30, 2026: $0.725 per mile

July 1 to December 31, 2026: $0.760 per mile
