Last Friday, our Managing Partner, Drew Barrett, CPA, joined Identity Clark County board members and investors for a tour of the Clark County Jail.

Public safety is one of those things most of us don’t think about until we need it. Seeing the facility firsthand was a reminder of how much our deputies, corrections staff, and justice partners do every day with the space and systems they have.

Identity Clark County is a group of business leaders who work to make our community a place where people can land, live, and learn for a lifetime. That work starts with listening, asking questions, and understanding what keeps Clark County strong, from transportation and education to the public safety services we all rely on.

We’re grateful to everyone who hosted the group and for the work you do every day.

Today's the last tax deadline of the year for extended individual returns.

If you've already filed, that's one less thing on your plate heading into the rest of the
year.

If you haven't yet, today's the day, and if you need a hand, we're here.

A gentle nudge: tomorrow's the last day to file extended individual returns.

If yours is still sitting unfiled, today's a good day to close the loop, not because anything bad happens if you don't, just because it's nice to head into the rest of the year with one less thing on your mind.

If you're not sure where things stand, give us a call today. We are happy to help you sort it out.

We don't think of our clients as accounts. We think of them as the people who built the businesses the PNW runs on, the crews, the shops, the fleets, the companies with someone's actual name on the door.

It's easy to lose sight of that in an industry built around numbers. But every return we file, every financial statement we draft, every call we take is really about someone's decision to bet on themselves.

We don't say that enough. Felt worth saying today.

October in the PNW might be the best argument for taking a real weekend, all year.

No inbox. No "just checking one thing." No taking the laptop "just in case."

The leaves aren't going to wait for a slower week. Neither is the sun, honestly, we all know what's coming.

So if this is the weekend, take it. Actually take it.

We'll be here Monday. The numbers will keep.

Hope you get outside.

A client came in this week with a great question: they'd gone through a life change this year and wanted to know exactly what they'd owe because of it.

Here's the thing: most people assume it works the way they'd expect. Same rules, same math they've always used.

It often doesn't. And that assumption alone can lead to a very different number than what you actually owe, in either direction.

This is exactly why "I think I know what I owe" and "I actually know what I owe" are two different things, especially when something in your financial picture has changed this year.

If you've experienced a sale, a transfer, an inheritance, or any life change that touches your taxes, don't guess, and don't wait until filing season to find out. Come ask us now, while there's still time to plan for it instead of just reacting to it.

That's what we're here for.

Something we tell every new client in our first meeting:

You didn't build this business to become an expert in cash flow, tax strategy, or payroll compliance. You built it because you're great at the actual work you do.

That's where we come in.

Our job is to make sure the financial side of your business is never the reason you can't focus on the work you're good at and love.

Most contractors don't run out of cash in December.

They run out of awareness in October and just don't find out until December.

Fall is when the slowdown starts, fewer daylight hours and fewer jobs on the board.

It's the moment most people stop looking at their numbers, right when they need to be looking the hardest.

Here's the thing about contractors who sail through a slow season: it's not that they have the biggest reserves.

It's that they checked their cash position before the slowdown hit, and not after.

If you don't know where you stand, check this week, while you still have room to act on what you find.

And if you're not sure where to even start, that's exactly what we're here for.

Most business owners look at a quarter-end number and move on. The smartest ones stop and ask one more question.

"What's this number trying to tell me before Q4 begins?"

Today is the last day of Q3.

A profit number by itself doesn't mean much. Revenue is just a number. Expenses are just numbers.

What's important is understanding what's changed since last quarter and what those changes mean for the months ahead.

Are margins getting tighter?

Are certain services becoming more profitable?

Is cash flow headed in the right direction?

The businesses that gain momentum in Q4 aren't necessarily the ones with the biggest numbers. They're the ones paying attention to what the numbers are saying.

If you haven't taken a close look at your Q3 results yet, this week is a great time to start.

Nobody gives out awards for the 47 decisions you made before 10 a.m.

Not if you're running a business.

Not if you're raising kids.

Not if you're just trying to keep life moving forward.

By the end of September, most people have quietly carried a thousand little things nobody else sees. The invoice you followed up on. The call you returned. The appointment you scheduled. The problem you solved before anyone knew it existed.

None of it makes headlines.

It just adds up.

Hope this weekend gives you a few minutes where the coffee is hot, the air is crisp, and nothing needs your attention.
