Owed a refund but never filed? Good news: you can still file and get your money — even if you never filed an extension.

The late-filing penalty only applies when YOU owe. If the IRS owes you, there's no penalty for filing late — and you have 3 years to claim your refund.

Don't leave your money on the table. Message us and we'll get it filed.

Tax myth: "A big refund means I did great on my taxes." ❌

A big refund just means you overpaid all year and gave the IRS an interest-free loan. The goal isn't a big refund — it's keeping more of your money in your pocket month to month.

Every week we bust one tax myth. Follow the page so you don't miss it.

The #1 bookkeeping mistake we see in small businesses: mixing personal and business money in one account.

It makes your books a mess, you miss deductions, and if the IRS ever takes a look, it's a headache you don't need. One separate business account fixes 90% of it.

Simple. Boring. Saves you money.

Simple. Aburrido. Te ahorra dinero.

It's officially the 4th quarter. 3 money moves to make before the year ends:

1. Review your profit — you can't plan taxes on numbers you haven't looked at since spring.
2. Catch up on bookkeeping — December-you will thank October-you.
3. Talk to your preparer now — in January we're slammed, in October we can actually plan.

A 30-minute review this month can change your April.

Ya estamos en el cuarto trimestre. 3 movimientos antes de que termine el año:

Filed a tax extension back in April? Heads up: your real deadline is October 15. That's 14 days from today.

An extension gives you more time to file — not more time to pay. If you owe, interest has been running since April. Don't let the deadline sneak up on you.

Need help getting it across the finish line? Send us a message to book.

Before you trust anyone with your taxes, ask these 3 questions:

1. Do you have a PTIN? (Every legit preparer does — it's their IRS ID.)
2. Are you open year-round? (If they vanish after April, good luck with that IRS letter in August.)
3. Will you sign my return as the preparer? (If they won't put their name on it, walk away — that's a classic red flag.)

—

Tax myth that costs people real money: "If I didn't get a 1099, I don't have to report that income." ❌

Wrong. All income counts, with or without the form. And the IRS usually gets a copy too — the penalties aren't worth the gamble. When in doubt, report it and ask us first.

Follow the page — we bust tax myths weekly.
