A woman said the sweetest thing to me the other day.

She told me she's been watching my weight loss journey and it actually got her working out. I almost teared up. You just never know who's paying attention.

And then she asked how much more weight I have to lose.

Honestly, I didn't have an answer. And I've been thinking about it ever since.

Because I'm not really chasing a number? I do weigh myself pretty regularly, just to check in and make sure I'm headed in a direction I feel good about. But that's not what this is about for me. I want to feel good. I want energy. I want to be excited about what I'm doing and actually have the gas left to enjoy my life.

Case in point, this picture. I just finished my workout. Rosy cheeks, a little sweaty, big smile. And now I'm off to breathwork next. That's the feeling I'm going for.

Not some number someone else decided I should hit.

Funny enough, this is the exact same conversation I have about money all the time. So many of us are chasing a target somebody else set. The real question is what matters to you, and what enough looks like in your life.

So I'm asking myself, and I'll ask you too. The stuff you're working so hard on right now. Is it for you? Or for someone else's number?

Moments like this are why I do this work. After I spoke today, a woman shared that she plans to pass my message and my book along to her adult daughters.

I didn't try things unless I knew I'd be good at them.

Fear of looking foolish ran things for years.

Recently I heard business owners say they don't even want to consider a loss. It took me right back.

A loss can be a decision, like everything else with money. It may serve a purpose. If it's happening by default, that's a different conversation.

I wrote about the four questions I'd ask before accepting any loss in your business. Link in comments.

Some people are chasing the jet-setting life, and if that's your thing, fantastic. Mine looks like this. Fur, joy, and nowhere else I'd rather be. Run your own race and enjoy every minute of it.

My path to writing this book was not a straight line, and I think that's exactly what makes it work. I started my career as a teacher. When I walked into that investment bank, I was an administrative assistant. I worked my way up to become a senior equity research analyst. I spent years analyzing how money actually moves.

From there, I earned my CDFA, my AFC, my MAFF. I founded Intentional Wealth Partners and Intentional Divorce Solutions. I built a practice around the moments when women most need someone in their corner financially, and that work led me here. Understanding how money moves through divorce, through business disputes, and seeing firsthand what happens when women are not in control of their financial picture.

Intentional Money is built for every one of those chapters. It's not theory. It's built from watching up close what is actually at stake when a woman does not fully own her financial life. It's available now, and you can get it in the link in my bio.

Happy Friday! Have you noticed how certain people in your feed can make your shoulders tense up, or spark an instant flash of irritation? I unfollowed someone this week, and it felt surprisingly empowering. What's one small thing you could eliminate from your life today that would leave you feeling just a little lighter?

When my 19-year-old asked me which credit card was "the best one," I gave him the same answer I give clients. There's no best card, only the best card for how you actually behave with money. I wrote about the conversation, and why it applies to a lot more than credit cards, in this week's Intentional Money. Link in the comments.

I saw someone online reflecting on a large financial loss.

They’d made an investment, riding it all the way up and then back down. Their takeaway was simple: when you make money, use it to improve your life before it disappears. Honestly, that conclusion broke my heart.

Not because I think we should postpone living. Money should help us build meaningful lives. There is nothing inherently virtuous about accumulating wealth we are afraid to enjoy. But “spend it before you lose it” is not the only lesson available here.

We could also ask:

* What caused the investment to rise so quickly?
* Did the potential return reflect the level of risk?
* Was too much money concentrated in one speculative asset?
* Was there a plan for taking profits, rebalancing, or limiting losses?
* Was that money appropriate to put at risk in the first place?

Those questions are not as emotionally satisfying as “life is short, spend the money.” But they help us make wiser decisions next time.

A financial loss doesn’t automatically mean investing was a mistake. A temporary gain doesn’t automatically mean the decision was wise.

Sometimes we confuse a favorable outcome with wisdom and an unfavorable one with bad luck. Financial maturity requires us to examine the decisions underneath both.

What concerns me most is the reach of messages like this. People are deeply influenced by what they see online. Someone may hear that story as permission to gamble with money they can’t afford to lose, believing that if it pays off, they should quickly spend the winnings.

That’s not financial freedom. It’s a cycle of speculation, fear, and reaction.

The lesson I hope people take from stories like this is not “spend it before it disappears.” It’s this: Understand what you own. Understand the risk you’re taking. Know what the money is meant to do for your life. Create a plan for enjoying today and protecting tomorrow.

For a long time, we are taught to navigate our money in secret, or worse, to leave the big decisions to someone else. But when life shifts, having clear visibility over your money is how you step into true freedom.

Real financial empowerment happens when wisdom and community come together. One of our recent members spent thirty years in a marriage where she had zero visibility or control over her income, investments, or retirement. When she finally chose to step into her power, she did not walk that path alone. She moved into her dream condo, redirected her income into her own accounts, and leaned on a financial planner and divorce coach to guide her forward.

You do not have to figure out this next chapter in isolation. Inside The Empowered Sisterhood, we hold space for women navigating major life transitions who are ready to speak openly about wealth, protect what they have built, and move forward with absolute clarity and joy.

If you are standing at a crossroads right now and feeling ready for a safe, supportive space to grow, send me a direct message with a bit of your story. Tell me where you are at today, and let us talk about how we can walk alongside you.
