Pine needle basketry, anyone? I will be teaching a class this coming Saturday at the Camden Art Shoppes. It's a fun, interactive class, and most folks go home with a completed basket.

Here's the link to register for the class.

Pine Needle Basketry is an old skill that has again become popular with crafters in recent years. South Carolina is a great place for pine needle basketry, as we are right in the middle of the Southeast's belt of long-needle pines. Janice Phillips has been making pine needle baskets for about 8 year...

October has arrived and so brings the lovely color palette of natural tones and bright Halloween colors. Of course I use these colors year round but Autumn they feel a bit more at home.

What are your favorite Fall colors?

One of my projects this week was reparing this basket lid. Someone had broken some of the pine cone petals. The new pinecone is smaller and hopefully, the extra resin I added will strengthen it better than the last one.

Basket #498, originally made last year.
$175. On display at Camden Art Shoppes .

09/05/26 pine needle hunting again. I still have a good many pine needles that dried during my two weeks away on vacation, but I needed to fill up the racks again.
Unfortunately, this property will not be available for my harvesting for the next 4 months, as it is hunting season. I have other pine trees available to me, but the pine trees are more mature, the needles are not as long or as easily harvested. I may need to put people on waiting lists again. I'm sorry. But I am so thankful to my friends who have allowed me this past 9 months to harvest their needles!

My helper is a quick learner! She helped me prep, wash, rinse and lay the pine needles out in the sun. This is a longer reel- approximately 3 mins. I hope y'all enjoy this compilation
