Once your name is on that settlement, it shapes your money for the next 20 years. So before you sign, make sure you can answer these five:
1️⃣ Does this reflect equitable distribution in my state?
2️⃣ Are all joint accounts & debts accounted for?
3️⃣ Has a QDRO been scheduled for each retirement account?
4️⃣ Do I understand the after-tax value?
5️⃣ Has a financial strategist, not just my attorney, reviewed this?
If you can't answer all five with confidence, you're not ready yet and that's exactly the moment to get a second set of eyes on the money. Legal and financially sound are not the same thing.

Every choice in a divorce settlement is a trade. 🏡
The house feels like the prize. But assets don't exist in isolation, what you fight to keep on one side gets weighed against what you give up on the other.
Pour everything into keeping the house, and you can quietly hand over the retirement that was meant to carry you for the next 30 years. It doesn't feel like a loss in the moment. It shows up years later, when the options are smaller.
This isn't "don't keep the house." It's know what it's costing you, in real, after-tax, long-term numbers, before you decide.
So tell me 👇 when you split assets, did anyone help you weigh the house against your future? Or were you handed a number and told it was fair?

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is:
"I'll figure out the money once the divorce is over."
Unfortunately, that's often when women discover they missed important financial details that could have changed their future.
After helping women navigate divorce for over 20 years, I created the Ultimate Divorce Toolbox to give you the guidance I wish every woman had from the beginning.
It's filled with practical resources to help you understand your options, protect your financial future, and make informed decisions, before costly mistakes happen.
You don't have to do this alone.
Message me TOOLBOX to learn how it can help you take your next step with confidence.

You're exhausted. You just want it over. And you're tempted to sign almost anything to close this chapter.
I understand that more than you know. But your divorce settlement will shape your income, your retirement, and your security for years, and once it's signed, it's very hard to undo.
So before you pick up the pen, I want you to be able to answer 5 questions. If you can't answer all five with confidence, you're not ready yet, and that's okay. It just means you have a little more clarity to gather first.
I broke down all five in my latest article, including the indemnification trap, the QDRO question most women never think to ask, and why "legal" and "financially sound" are not the same thing.

Which of the five caught you off guard? Tell me in the comments.

Read that again. 💜
Your settlement can be 100% legal, signed, sealed, enforceable, and still quietly work against the life you're trying to build.
Legal means it holds up in court. Financially sound means it holds up in your life: the after-tax value, the retirement timeline, the debts, the years ahead.
They are not the same thing. And most women only ever get one of those reviews.
If someone you love is in the middle of a divorce right now, send her this. It might be the reminder that changes how she signs.

Most portfolios are built from the same handful of building blocks, stocks, bonds, maybe some real estate. But there's a category institutional investors have leaned on for years that rarely gets explained to everyone else.
That's what we're covering July 20.

If you've ever left a financial conversation more confused than when you walked in, you already know why I built this practice.
I was honored to be featured this week for the work I've done with women navigating divorce, widowhood, and retirement, the transitions where the stakes are highest and the guidance is usually the thinnest.
In my 20 years in wealth management, I saw the same pattern too often: smart women handed a plan instead of an explanation. So I stepped away from the traditional model and built something different, a practice where women get the full picture before they make life-changing decisions.
Because the moment you understand what you're actually working with, the fear starts to lift.
Full feature's in the comments, along with my free Second Saturday Workshop if you're standing at the start of your own transition.
