This young man spent a lot of time wondering what his future would look like.

If I could sit down with him for five minutes, I'd say:

"Way to go, kid. You've got the magic. Be yourself and it's all going to work out."

What I wouldn't tell him is every twist and turn ahead.

I wouldn't tell him about the challenges, losses, or disappointments, because those experiences would shape his character.

And I wouldn't tell him about the successes either.

The wonderful family. The lifelong friendships. The opportunities to serve clients. The privilege of building something meaningful alongside people he admires.

Some lessons are meant to be lived.

After all these years, I've come to believe that fulfillment isn't found in wealth, titles, or recognition. It's found in becoming the person you were created to be and using your gifts in service of others.

The years pass quickly.

Build the life, not just the résumé.

And don't forget to enjoy the journey.

Last Friday marked the end of an important chapter at Colibri Capital.

Eight years ago, Adam Costarella and I set out to build something meaningful together.

Like many founders, we believed we might spend our entire careers working side by side.

Life, however, has a way of writing its own story.

While business partnerships sometimes end, gratitude remains.

Adam stayed in the arena with me through some challenging personal seasons. Over the past year I've lost my grandfather, my brother, and my mom. It's been a challenging year.

Adam helped carry responsibilities when life demanded my attention elsewhere and remained committed long enough for us to build an exceptional leadership team and a stronger organization than either of us could have imagined in the early days.

Not everyone would have done that.

Together, we helped create a firm that serves hundreds of families, supports an outstanding team, and stands on a foundation miles ahead of where we started.

For that, I will always be thankful.

As with any transition, there will be questions about what comes next.

The truth is simple: we both have new chapters ahead of us. That's part of life, and part of growth.

Adam leaves large shoes to fill. Adam Guzek CFP, CEPA, MSF, Gary Ketselman CFA, and Kyle Putnam JD, MBA, BFA will help shoulder the work ahead.

I've come to believe that success isn't measured solely by how long a partnership lasts, but by whether both people leave better than they arrived.

By that measure, I'd call our journey together a success!

Most importantly, what remains is respect.

Respect for a good man. A devoted husband. A caring father. A loyal friend who played an important role in helping build what exists today.

The future of Colibri Capital is bright, and I'm excited about what lies ahead.

But before turning the page completely, I wanted to pause and say thank you.

Adam, thank you for the years of partnership, friendship, and the thrills we shared along the way.

Rachel and I wish you and your family nothing but success, happiness, and fulfillment in whatever comes next.

Here's to the next chapter!
