One of the easiest ways to know what content your audience wants?

Ask them.

R. Kenner French is doing exactly that with the Banana Ball community.

Instead of guessing what fans want to hear next, he's inviting them to submit their questions about the game, the players, the experience, and everything surrounding Banana Ball.

The answers can become conversations, videos, articles, and resources built around what people actually want to know.

That's a content strategy any business can learn from:

Listen first. Then create.

People may come for the entertainment.

Community gives them a reason to care.

After spending time covering and attending Banana Ball events, R. Kenner French says one thing stands out to him: the feeling of being part of something.

Fans aren't treated like spectators sitting outside the experience. They're brought into it.

That's a lesson that reaches far beyond sports.

Great brands don't only build audiences.

They build communities people want to belong to.

Tomorrow, the championship event begins at Historic Grayson Stadium.

If Banana Ball still occasionally makes you say “Wait…what just happened?” That’s exactly why 101 exists.

Know the teams.
Understand the scoring.
Recognize the traditions.
And when a Showdown happens, know why everyone is losing their minds. 🍌

Championship week is almost here.

If you’re planning to watch, you don’t need to memorize every Banana Ball rule before the first pitch.

But these 5 things will make the game much easier to follow:

1️⃣ Each inning is its own contest. Win the inning, earn the point.
2️⃣ There’s a two-hour time limit. The game is built to keep moving.
3️⃣ Ball four isn’t a normal walk. It can turn into a full-on sprint.
4️⃣ The fans are part of the action. Yes, what happens in the stands can actually matter.
5️⃣ A tie can trigger the Showdown. Fewer defenders. More open field. A completely wild finish.

That’s enough to understand what’s happening without taking away any of the surprises.

Save this for championship week. 🍌

And if you want the deeper version, 101 Things That Make Banana Ball Absolutely Bananas breaks down the rules, teams, traditions, Showdown, and everything else that makes this game different.

Sometimes changing the rules changes the entire experience.

R. Kenner French breaks down three of the craziest rules in Banana Ball, and they're a great example of what happens when an organization is willing to rethink how something has always been done.

Fans can make an out.

Bunting is out.

Even a walk becomes part of the action.

Different industry, familiar business lesson: sometimes innovation starts by questioning the rules everyone else takes for granted.

Three days until the BBCL Playoffs begin in Savannah.

From October 1–4, the postseason heads to Grayson Stadium, and the teams that advance will move one step closer to the first-ever Banana Bowl on October 10 in Washington, D.C.

If you’re planning to follow the postseason, here are four things worth understanding before it starts:

🍌 The rules — Banana Ball has 11 of them, from the two-hour time limit to fan-caught foul balls becoming outs.
⚾ The teams — six teams make up the inaugural 2026 BBCL.
🔥 The Showdown — because tied games don’t end with ordinary extra innings.
🎉 The traditions — the moments around the game are part of the experience too.

You don’t need to become an expert before Oct. 1.

You just need enough context to follow the game, and then let the chaos do the rest.

Sometimes the best ideas start with a problem you keep hearing about.

While covering the Savannah Bananas, R. Kenner French noticed something: people were excited about Banana Ball, but many still had questions about how it all worked.

Instead of simply answering those questions one conversation at a time, he turned that knowledge into a resource.

The result was 101 Things That Make Banana Ball Absolutely Bananas, a guide created to make Banana Ball easier for fans to understand and enjoy.

It’s a simple lesson for entrepreneurs and experts in any industry: pay attention to the questions your audience keeps asking. There may be an opportunity to create something genuinely useful.

For Kenner, those questions became a book. 🍌⚾
