Imported Red Fire Ants are more than a nuisance, they're one of the biggest threats to wildlife across Central Texas. That's why Imported Red Fire Ant Treatment is one of Plateau's most requested services.

It qualifies as a Wildlife Management Activity, but its value goes beyond compliance. Red Imported Fire Ants can kill newly hatched birds, invade some songbird nests, and reduce the abundance of insects that young birds depend on. Controlling heavy infestations can remove one source of pressure on quail, turkey poults, songbirds, and birds using nest boxes.

Ride along with Technician Connor Nelson for a day in the life of an Imported Fire Ant Treatment. He'll walk you through our process from start to finish.

Imported Red Fire Ant treatment, or IRFA as our Plateau technicians call it, is one of our most requested services and a regularly documented Wildlife Management Activity for landowners across Central Texas.

Here's why it matters: fire ants prey on ground-nesting wildlife and can threaten the nest boxes installed on your property as part of your Wildlife Management efforts. Left untreated, they can undo real progress toward your goals.

Technician Connor Nelson walks you through a fire ant treatment and why now is the time to get started on your property.

Impatience is the #1 reason hog trapping fails.

Trap too early, catch a few, and you've just educated the rest of the sounder. Now they're smarter and harder to catch.

We removed all 21 pigs from this sounder in a single trapping event using the Pig Brig net system. The secret wasn't the equipment. It was discipline. Prebait, wait, and trust the process until the whole sounder is in.

That's how you actually solve a hog problem instead of just managing one.

Most trapping failures happen before the net ever drops.

Whole-sounder removal isn't about luck. It's patience and strategic monitoring that confirms the entire group is present AND comfortable at your bait site. Rush that step, and you risk spooking pigs that took weeks to pattern in.

Dr. John Kinsey breaks down exactly how to do it right in our new video: 21 Pigs Trapped - The Pig Brig Tutorial.

We had a great weekend at Texas Wildlife Association WildLife 2026 Annual Convention.

Every year we look forward to being part of an event that celebrates Texas’ outdoor community while bringing together the top conversations and breakthroughs shaping our industry. Three days of connecting with landowners, biologists, and conservation partners from across the state, always well spent.

Thank you to the Texas Wildlife Association for another great convention.

21 pigs. One night.

Wise Eye Game Cameras kept us locked in on feral hog activity at Hill Country Conservancy's Pecan Springs Karst Preserve, and that intel is exactly what turned into one of our biggest single-night catches yet.

Now we're breaking down exactly how we did it. Our upcoming YouTube video "21 PIGS CAPTURED - The Pig Brig Tutorial" features Plateau's own John Kinsey, who has spent over a decade trapping feral hogs across the globe. He walks through every Pig Brig component start to finish, the full setup process, and the tricks that make your first sounder catch possible.

Premieres Saturday at 9AM, only on YouTube.

Mowing it down doesn't kill it. It just tells the root system to try again next season.

Plateau runs two treatments built on the actual biology of what you're fighting:

Cut-Stump Application: mature mesquite, huisache, willow baccharis, ligustrum, nandina, chinaberry, Chinese tallow. Cut at the base, treated at the source, gone for good.

Foliar Application: prickly pear, small re-growth mesquite/huisache, willow baccharis. Caught early, before it re-establishes.

TDA Commercial Applicators Licensed. Trained crews. The right method for the right growth stage, every time.

Shredding buys you a season. This buys you the land back.
