IMHO Cookie does not do well coming out of her kennel on the way to the yard passing dogs in kennels. She also doesn’t do great when dogs walk by her kennel on a leash. What I have witnessed… She stresses, amps up, panics, reacts, lashes out… Again, from what I have seen - the moment she is no longer able to see dogs in kennels… she regain her calmness. What’s possibly the ODDIST thing about it, IMO, when we got to the fence of the yard with all the happy dogs inside she did not have the same reaction at all, but was easily collared and entered the yard loose and playful. So I don’t know if it’s fencing. Maybe it’s conflict behind barriers… I have no idea. It’s hard to imagine a similar scenario outside the shelter environment, other than potentially a boarding situation. She does great with people in the yard, good with dogs, it’s just seems like she can’t deal seeing dogs behind barriers. There will be no more videos of Cookie or MTL the ability of volunteers to handle her since she has become “for rescues only.” A policy LAAS has adopted.
