Service businesses—your revenue is only half the story. What you spend to serve your clients matters too.

Subcontractors, software, mileage, supplies, insurance, processing fees, advertising, and other business expenses can all affect your real profit and your tax picture.

If you’re only tracking what comes in, your books may be telling the wrong story.

Owe the IRS? That does not automatically mean they can take your entire paycheck.

The IRS recently reminded taxpayers that a portion of wages may be protected from levy, and depending on your financial situation, you may also have options such as a payment plan or Offer in Compromise.

The biggest mistake? Ignoring the problem.

The sooner you understand your options, the sooner you can start working toward a solution.

The IRS Business Tax Account is becoming a more useful tool for business owners.

Eligible businesses may be able to review notices, check balances, view payment activity, make certain tax payments, and access important tax information online. Some users may also be able to access an EIN verification notice without waiting for a replacement by mail.

Your tax account shouldn’t only be checked when there’s a problem. Make it part of your regular business routine and stay on top of what the IRS has on file.

One of the biggest mistakes product-based businesses make is looking at sales and thinking, “That’s how much money I made.”

Not quite.

Your sales are only one part of the picture. You also need to account for what the products actually cost you — including inventory, raw materials, packaging, freight and shipping costs, returns, refunds, payment-processing fees, and other operating expenses.

Keeping accurate records and properly tracking your cost of goods sold (COGS) helps you understand three important numbers:

How much did I sell?
What did those products actually cost me?
How much did I really keep?

Strong bookkeeping gives you a clearer picture of your profit and helps make tax time a lot easier.

🚨 The IRS just made a BIG change to how you can manage your taxes from your phone!

The new IRS mobile app is replacing IRS2Go and gives taxpayers access to more tools in one place — including checking refund status, viewing balances, making payments, accessing certain tax records and even retrieving your IP PIN. 📱

⚠️ Be careful: With new IRS tools come opportunities for scammers. Only download the official IRS app through a verified source and avoid random links claiming to give you access to your IRS account.

💡 Tax information changes constantly. Knowing about these updates early can save you time, stress and potentially costly mistakes.

Yes — I’d make that CTA a little cleaner and more professional:

DM “TAX PLANNING” to see how we can help you plan ahead, understand your tax position, and make sure you’re properly accounting for the income and business expenses that may affect your tax bill.

Or a shorter version:

DM “TAX PLANNING” to start planning ahead and make sure you’re taking advantage of the tax strategies and business deductions that may apply to you.

For the trucker post specifically, I’d use:

Truckers and owner-operators: DM “TAX PLANNING” to see how we can help you plan ahead, organize your income and expenses, and identify tax strategies that may apply to your business.

Your bookkeeping should tell you more than what you spent. It should help you understand how your business is performing.

Strong bookkeeping gives you a clearer picture of:

* What your business is actually earning
* Which expenses are increasing
* What customers still owe you
* What bills are coming due
* Whether your cash flow is improving or tightening
* How prepared you are for taxes, financing, or growth

One important habit: review your Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet regularly — not just at tax time.

Your Profit & Loss Statement helps show whether the business is generating a profit over a specific period.

Your Balance Sheet gives you a snapshot of what the business owns, what it owes, and the equity remaining in the business.

Together, these reports can help you spot issues earlier and make more informed decisions.

Good bookkeeping is not just recordkeeping. It is a tool for planning, managing, and growing your business.

Remember, small financial habits today can make for a better financial situation tomorrow.

Getting paid to care for someone you love can still come with tax responsibilities. 💰

How the income is classified matters—and knowing the rules now can help you avoid surprises when it’s time to file.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. 📌

“Accepted,” “approved,” and “sent” are three different refund updates—and understanding the difference can save you unnecessary worry.

An accepted return means the IRS received it. Your refund must still be processed and approved before it is released. Monitor your progress through the official Where’s My Refund? tool on IRS.gov.

🌱 Remember: Healthy tax habits include staying informed throughout the entire filing process.

But the IRS accepted my return.”

That doesn’t necessarily mean every item reported on the return has been approved.

In a September 2026 warning about fraudulent tax-credit promotions, the IRS reminded taxpayers that acceptance of a previously filed return does not establish that a credit claimed on it was valid.

Be especially cautious when someone promises an unusually large refund, pressures you to act quickly, or promotes a tax credit you’ve never heard of.

Accurate tax preparation matters long after the return is submitted.
