Long before I knew what black entrepreneurship meant I saw Sister Burns and Sister Watkins , as my grandma affectionately called them, frying fish in this building on the corner of 47th Avenue and 5th Street in Westside Meridian.

I remember being a little boy waiting what seemed to be “forever” because my grandma wanted her fish fried hard. The lines extended out the door at times, especially on weekends.

Those two ladies created a high demand for their fish. It was sooooo good. They also paved the way for Black people to have their own and be their own boss.
