🚨 The most dangerous number in your business might be the one nobody questions. 🚨

Think about the numbers you use to make decisions every day.

Revenue. Profit. Cash. Margins. Inventory. Payroll. Forecasts.

Now ask yourself something:

Why do you trust them? πŸ€”

Not whether they look right.

Why do you believe they're actually right?

A spreadsheet can calculate perfectly using incomplete information.

A dashboard can look beautiful while pulling from a bad process.

A report can reconcile even when the underlying information is missing something.

That's why I think every business owner should occasionally ask four questions about the numbers they rely on:

🟩 Where did this number come from?

🟩 What could make it wrong?

🟩 Who can influence or change it?

🟩 What gives me confidence it's reliable?

You don't need to audit your own business. πŸ˜‚

But as your business grows, your financial systems and controls need to grow with it.

The process that worked when you were making $100K may not make sense when you're doing $1 million.

More money moving around means more transactions, more access, more people and more opportunities for mistakes.

Trust your people. Design the process anyway.

Because sometimes the biggest financial risk isn't the number everybody knows is wrong.

It's the one everybody assumes is right. πŸ’―

That's just common sense. πŸ’š

🚨 BUSINESS OWNERS… QUICK QUESTION.

You made $20,000 this month. πŸ’°
You spent $17,000.
Your bank account has $2,146 in it.

Somehow you’re walking around telling everybody:

β€œBusiness is BOOMING!” We Lit! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

My family… WHERE IS THE MONEY?! 😭

This is one of the biggest things I see with small businesses.

Revenue looks good. Sales are coming in. Everybody is busy.

But nobody can answer the most important questions:

πŸ’° How much did we actually PROFIT?
🧾 What are we spending too much on?
🏦 How much cash should be sitting in the business?
πŸ’Έ How much needs to be set aside for taxes?
πŸ“ˆ Are we actually getting stronger every month?

Making money and managing money are two completely different skills.

You don't have to become an accountant to understand your numbers.

That's my job.

I take all that accounting language, financial statements, taxes and numbers that make your eyes cross πŸ€―β€¦and make it make sense.

Because I don't want you running a business that looks successful.

I want you to actually BE successful. πŸ’š

Now share this and make this go viral πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

🚨 BUSINESS OWNERS: SEPTEMBER 15 IS COMING.

If you’re self-employed, an independent contractor, creator, consultant, or business owner, September 15, 2026 may be an important tax deadline for you.

The third federal estimated tax payment deadline for 2026 is September 15.

Here’s something that causes a lot of confusion:

Estimated tax payments are NOT automatically required just because you own a business.

Generally, individuals may need to make estimated tax payments if they expect to owe $1,000 or more in federal income tax after subtracting withholding and refundable credits, subject to the IRS estimated-tax and safe-harbor rules.

πŸ’š NEED TO MAKE A PAYMENT?

You can pay directly through the IRS.

Go to the IRS payment page and choose Direct Pay with bank account.

Then:

🟩 Select Estimated Tax as the reason for payment
🟩 Apply the payment to 1040-ES
🟩 Select 2026 as the tax year
🟩 Enter and verify your information
🟩 Enter your bank and payment information
🟩 Review everything before submitting
🟩 Save your confirmation number

IRS Direct Pay is free and allows you to make the payment directly from a checking or savings account.

Make a payment directly to the IRS right here:

https://www.irs.gov/payments/direct-pay-with-bank-account

Now here's the part I think matters even more:

Making the payment is the easy part.

Knowing how much you should actually be paying is where tax planning comes in.

Are you paying enough?

Are you paying too much?

Are you meeting a safe harbor?

Has your income changed significantly since your last payment?

Are you setting aside enough from the business each month?

Those are much better questions than simply waiting until April and hoping the number works out. Tax season has enough surprises already. 😩

If you’re earning business or self-employment income and you're unsure what your 2026 estimated tax payments should look like, James Wilder & Associates LLC can help you figure out where you stand and build a plan for the rest of the year.

The question doesn't end with Y. It begins with WHY.

Know these below things first and execute! You already know Why!

No excuses...no procrastination.

πŸ’š Why are you chasing the goal?

πŸ’š Why are you building the business?

πŸ’š Why are you sacrificing the time?

πŸ’š Why does the accomplishment matter?

Because once you know your WHY, you can decide whether what you're spending to get there is actually worth it.

Time Don’t Refund. βŒ›πŸ’š

Behind on your taxes? The worst strategy is hoping the problem disappears. πŸ’š

Maybe you missed a filing deadline.

Maybe you have one or more years that still need to be filed.

Maybe your returns are filed, but you owe more than you can pay right now.

Maybe you're a business owner who fell behind while trying to keep the business running.

Or maybe the IRS letters have started showing up and you've been avoiding them because you don't know where to start.

Here's what matters: Being behind does not mean you have to stay behind.

The first step is figuring out exactly where you stand.

🟩 What returns are missing?

🟩 What has already been filed?

🟩 How much do you actually owe?

🟩 Are penalties and interest accumulating?

🟩 Are payment or penalty-relief options available?

🟩 What needs to happen first?

James Wilder & Associates LLC helps individuals and business owners get caught up on late filings, understand their tax situation, and determine the next steps available to them.

No judgment. No pretending the problem isn't there.

Figure out the numbers. Build the plan. Start moving forward.

Behind doesn't mean stuck. πŸ’š

🟩 Can the business afford the next hire, new location, equipment purchase or marketing push?

That’s where bookkeeping stops and CFO advisory begins.
