Financial advice can have an impact far beyond a portfolio.

At Future Proof Festival, Omega's Jared Jones, CFP®, CIMA®, CeFT®, RLP® joined the conversation around “The Advisor Effect: How Pro Bono Planning Changes Lives,” sharing how advisors can use their expertise to expand access to financial guidance and support people who may not otherwise receive it.

We're proud to see Jared representing Omega and contributing to an important industry conversation about the broader impact advisors can make.

Most people think about taxes in March and April, when returns are due.

But the decisions that shape your outcome, including harvesting losses, realizing gains, timing income from a business or equity compensation, and structuring charitable gifts all have deadlines tied to the end of the year.

For families with concentrated stock, business interests, or multiple income sources, waiting until filing season can mean missing out on significant opportunities.

Talk with your advisor now, while decisions can still make a difference this year.

Charitable giving often gets reduced to deciding how much to give, but the way you give deserves just as much attention, especially when appreciated assets are part of the picture.

Stock or other assets that have grown significantly in value can play a meaningful role in a giving strategy. Donating the asset directly, rather than selling it first and giving away the proceeds, can support the causes you care about while helping manage the tax impact of the gain.

The Fed and the Treasury are pulling interest rates in different directions.

On September 16, the Warsh-led Federal Reserve raised short-term rates by 0.25% to bring inflation closer to its 2% target. Meanwhile, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has pushed to buy back Treasury securities in an effort to lower long-term rates.

The bond market has its own challenges, including the deficit and long-term inflation. Expect the debate to continue into 2027.

For investors, the right move depends on your situation. Cash yields, existing debt, bond maturities, and how long you plan to hold a position all play a role. A long-term strategy gives you steadier footing than any prediction about what the Fed or Treasury does next.

Building wealth and feeling comfortable spending it can be two very different challenges.

In a recent Kiplinger article, Lisa A.K. Kirchenbauer, CFP®, CPWA®, RLP®, CeFT®, shares why the shift from saving to spending can be especially difficult in retirement. After decades of watching assets grow, drawing them down can feel uncomfortable, even when the financial plan says you can afford it.

Retirement planning can help bridge that gap by accounting for longevity, market uncertainty and aging while helping people feel more confident using their wealth to support the life they've worked toward.

The window for year-end planning is open.
Retirement contributions, charitable gifts, and certain tax strategies carry deadlines tied to December 31. Wait too long and some of those opportunities close for the year.
For families managing complex wealth, the window also includes concentrated stock positions, private business interests, real estate, and multi-generational decisions, all of which take time to plan around properly. Coordinating with your CPA, attorney, and other advisors before December gives everyone time to make thoughtful decisions.
Now is the time to review your full picture:
→ Investments and concentrated positions
→ Tax strategies
→ Charitable giving
→ Family and legacy goals

Shifting markets, nonstop news cycles, and frantic headlines have a way of putting even seasoned investors on edge.

It's important not to get caught up in temporary swings, fleeting trends, or stories. Successful financial planning requires a calm, disciplined long-term perspective.

That measured, intentional approach reflects Omega's philosophy: Financial confidence comes from thoughtful planning and intentional decisions, not reacting to short-term headlines.

As we creep up on October and the fourth quarter, now is a good time to reflect on potential planning opportunities.

Before the holiday rush hits, take some time to review:

• Tax strategies
• Charitable giving
• Retirement contributions
• Estate planning
• Career, family, health, or life changes
• Upcoming financial decisions

By doing this now, you may be able to make meaningful adjustments before end-of-year. At the very least, you'll go into January with a clear, current view of your financial picture.

Often, when we think of financial success, it's in terms of what we could buy, the debt we can pay off, or when we'll retire. It's understandable - those are at the forefront of everyone's mind.

But take a moment to expand your thinking and ask, "What could financial success make possible?"

Think beyond investment returns, trips, and home improvement. Think big and bold. How could wealth:
• Help aging parents
• Support the next generation
• Create memorable family experiences
• Enable generosity and giving
• Provide long-term purpose

A successful financial plan accounts for needs like expenses and retirement, but it can also be a way to bring your other dreams to life. As you consider your financial plan, think about the challenges it can help solve, along with what else it could make possible.
