Sometimes an opportunity teaches you exactly what you needed to know—even when it doesn't turn out the way you expected.

A little over a month ago, I shared that I had accepted a position with Seacoast Bank. So many of you congratulated and encouraged me, and I truly appreciated every message.

Today, I want to close that chapter with the same honesty with which I opened it.

I made the decision to resign.

I won't use this post to speak negatively about a company or the people I worked with. There are people I met during my short time there whom I genuinely appreciate, and lessons from the experience that I will carry with me.

But one of the biggest lessons had very little to do with banking.

It reminded me how easily we can become so focused on surviving that we stop actually living.

I was working all day, coming home and continuing to work on my business, sometimes working with salon clients around that schedule, and staying up late planning, posting, and trying to make everything work financially.

I was constantly working, yet I didn't feel like I was moving forward.

My home needed attention. My faith, rest, and personal life needed room. And my business needed thoughtful attention instead of exhausted attention.

As small-business owners, we're constantly told to hustle—work harder, sleep less, take every opportunity, keep pushing.

But being busy every waking hour isn't necessarily building a better life.

Sometimes the brave decision isn't adding something else. Sometimes it's deciding what you're no longer willing to sacrifice.

I want to continue growing MRB Notary Public & Multi Services LLC and creating financial stability—but not by allowing work and worry to consume every part of my life.

And maybe another small-business owner needs to hear this too:

Your business should be part of your life. It should not consume your life.

You are allowed to change direction.
You are allowed to admit something isn't working.
You are allowed to redefine what success looks like for you.

This morning, I returned my keys.

That chapter is officially closed.

I'm moving forward with a different perspective—not only about business, but about how I want to live my life.

Here's to building something meaningful without losing ourselves in the process. ❤️

If you paid contractors during the year, January is not the time to start searching for missing information.
Before year-end, take time to review your contractor records and make sure your documentation is organized.
✔️ Review W-9 forms
✔️ Confirm names, addresses, and taxpayer information
✔️ Review contractor payment records
✔️ Identify missing information while there’s still time
✔️ Keep your records organized for year-end reporting
A few minutes spent reviewing your records now can save you from unnecessary scrambling later.
Prepared today. Stronger tomorrow.

How many business miles have you driven this year? 🚗
For many small-business owners, the answer is somewhere between “a lot” and “I have absolutely no idea.” 😅
Picking up supplies, meeting clients, making business-related stops, and traveling between work locations can add up quickly.
The important part is not trying to remember all those trips months later.
When tracking business mileage, keep a record of:
📅 Date
📍 Destination
💼 Business purpose
🚗 Miles driven
Good records make it much easier to document your business activity when tax time arrives.
Track it while you remember it.

Tax season may still feel far away, but for small-business owners, preparation should start before the year ends.
Waiting until tax time to organize an entire year of business records can mean searching for missing receipts, trying to remember old transactions, and discovering bookkeeping issues when you're already under pressure.
Start reviewing your records now:
📂 Make sure your income is recorded
🧾 Organize receipts and business expenses
🏦 Review bank and credit-card transactions
🚗 Update your business mileage records
📊 Bring your bookkeeping up to date
🔎 Identify missing or unclear transactions
A little preparation now can make a big difference later.
Year-end preparation starts now.

A receipt tells you what you bought—but good business records tell the whole story.
As a small-business owner, keeping your expenses organized throughout the year can make bookkeeping easier and help you avoid trying to reconstruct months of transactions when tax season arrives.
For your business purchases, keep records that help document:
🧾 What you purchased
📅 When you purchased it
💵 How much you paid
🏪 The vendor or payee
💼 The business purpose
📁 Receipts, invoices, or other supporting documentation
The goal isn't to have a bag, drawer, or glove compartment full of receipts. 😂 The goal is to have records you can actually use.
Organized today. Stronger tomorrow.

Before the year ends, take a moment to check the health of your business records.
Are your books current? Are your accounts reconciled? Are your receipts organized, expenses categorized, and mileage records up to date?
Taking care of these details now can help you catch missing information while there’s still time and avoid unnecessary stress when tax season arrives.
📁 Organized records
📊 Current bookkeeping
🧾 Complete documentation
✅ Better tax preparation
A little work now can save a lot of work later.
