🚨 A friendly warning before taking tax advice from social media…
“Sell everything.”
“Buy rentals.”
“Leave the U.S.”
“Open offshore accounts.”
“Use the FEIE.”
“Write everything off.”
“Pay ZERO taxes.”
Sounds amazing. 🤦🏻♂️
But before following an influencer’s “tax strategy,” ask a more important question:
Who exactly is giving you the advice?
Have they actually managed a significant tax liability? Operated a real business? Defended a tax position? Advised businesses with substantial income and assets?
Or, in some cases, do they even earn enough to personally deal with the tax problems they’re advising you about?
There’s a BIG difference between creating tax content and being professionally accountable for tax advice.
When the strategy fails, the influencer doesn’t receive the IRS notice.
You do.
You pay the tax.
You pay the interest.
You pay the penalties.
There are legitimate strategies involving real estate, international structures, foreign income and deductions—but real tax strategy starts with facts, law, documentation and your specific circumstances.
Your financial future is not content. Choose carefully who you trust with it.
