Not every client is the right fit for my firm, and I’m okay with that.

I won’t work with someone who wants me to manipulate the numbers, someone who only wants their taxes filed without any real advice, or someone who won’t provide the information I need to do my job properly.

I built my firm on honesty, trust, and helping people make informed financial decisions. That means being honest even when the truth isn’t what someone wants to hear.

If you value honest advice and want a CPA who looks at the bigger picture, we might be a great fit. The link is in my bio.

Using one bank account for both business and personal expenses can make tax season more complicated than it needs to be.

It can make legitimate deductions harder to identify, increase bookkeeping costs, and potentially put liability protection at risk, depending on your business structure and circumstances.

The fix is simple: open a separate business checking account and keep your transactions organized from day one.

Separate accounts. Cleaner books. Better financial visibility.

Waiting until April to think about your taxes could mean missing opportunities to plan ahead.

From reviewing retirement contributions and equipment purchases to checking your S Corp salary and running a tax projection, the right moves start before the year closes.

April is for filing. Fall is for deciding.

Save this and schedule a tax planning meeting before the year gets away from you.

Getting calls claiming you qualify for a big tax credit? Be careful before signing anything.

Legitimate tax credits can offer real savings, but claiming one you don’t qualify for can mean repaying the money, potentially with penalties and interest.

Before filing, have an independent tax professional review your eligibility, not just someone who profits from filing the claim.

Verify first. Claim second.

A business loan can increase your bank balance without increasing your profit.

If a loan is mistakenly recorded as revenue, your financial statements can become misleading and potentially lead to incorrect tax reporting. Loan proceeds generally aren’t taxable income, because they must be repaid.

Make sure your loans are recorded as liabilities and your books accurately reflect what your business earns.

Check how your business loans are recorded before they cost you.

Your bookkeeping should give you confidence in your numbers, not leave you guessing.

If you don’t know your profit, have unreconciled transactions, or only ever see a P&L, it may be time to take a closer look at your books.

Accurate financials start with accurate bookkeeping.

Why can some business purchases be deducted immediately while others are spread over several years? 👀

It often comes down to depreciation and the tax rules that apply to qualifying assets.

Timing a business purchase can affect your tax bill, but there are limits and requirements, and buying something you don’t need just for the deduction doesn’t make financial sense.

Plan the purchase. Don’t invent one.

Everyone sees the business you built. Almost nobody sees the moment you almost gave up.

KayLynn shares the story of year two, four kids, a mortgage, a handful of clients, and a very real fear that the firm might not make it.

Sometimes, what keeps you going isn’t confidence. It’s knowing that someone is counting on you.

If you’re in year two of something hard right now, this is for you. 🤍

You’re paying your bookkeeper every month, but are you actually seeing the numbers?

If your books aren’t being reconciled and you’re not receiving regular financial reports, you may be making important business decisions based on numbers that aren’t accurate.

Your P&L and balance sheet shouldn’t be something you see once a year.

When was the last time you received a monthly financial report?

Comment MONTH.

Worried about an IRS audit? 👀 The goal isn’t to avoid legitimate deductions, it’s to make sure your tax return tells an accurate, consistent story.

Unusual deductions, income that doesn’t match reported forms, and numbers that don’t add up can raise questions. Keep accurate records, report your income, and claim the deductions you’re entitled to.

Don’t fear legitimate deductions. Make sure you can back them up.
