📝 WEEKEND FINANCIAL CHECKUP

Ask yourself these 3 questions:

1️⃣ Retirement:
Do I know how I'll create income when I stop working?

2️⃣ Taxes:
Do I have a plan for my future tax situation?

3️⃣ Legacy:
Would my family know what to do if something happened to me?

If you're unsure about any of them, that's okay.

Every good financial plan starts with a good question.

Medicare Open Enrollment begins today and runs through December 7!

Your healthcare needs, prescription medications, and out-of-pocket costs can change over time, which is why reviewing your Medicare coverage each year is so important.

As you evaluate your options, remember to:

✔️ Review your prescription drug coverage
✔️ Check for changes to provider networks
✔️ Compare plan costs, premiums, and benefits
✔️ Make sure your coverage still aligns with your healthcare needs

Taking a few minutes to review your plan now can help you make more informed healthcare and financial decisions for the year ahead.

You've spent years building your 401(k).

But have you thought about what happens after the paycheck stops?

Your 401(k) may become an important part of your retirement-income strategy.

That raises questions about withdrawals, taxes, Social Security and eventually inheritance.

Accumulating the money is one chapter.

Using it wisely is another.

Here's a question worth asking:

If you had an extra $100,000 today, what would you do with it?

Invest it?

Pay down debt?

Give it to your children?

Put it toward retirement?

Keep it liquid?

There's no universal answer.

The interesting part is that your answer reveals something about your priorities—and financial planning should ultimately reflect those priorities.

When should you take Social Security?

62?
Full retirement age?
Later?

There isn't one answer that's right for everyone.

Your Social Security decision should be considered alongside your retirement income needs, other assets and personal circumstances.

Don't make the decision simply because someone else did.

📈 The annual Social Security COLA announcement is a reminder that inflation can have a lasting impact on retirement income.

COLA stands for Cost-of-Living Adjustment, the annual increase designed to help Social Security benefits keep pace with inflation.

Current projections suggest the 2027 COLA could land between 3.1% and 3.6%, potentially adding about $60 to $75 per month to the average $2,000 benefit. If those estimates hold, it would represent the largest Social Security benefit increase since 2023.

💡 Retirement Tip: Don't focus solely on your benefit increase. Take time to review your overall retirement income strategy and consider how rising expenses, healthcare costs, and inflation may affect your long-term budget.

A higher income is a great problem to have.

But it can also make financial decisions more complicated.

More income can mean:

💰 More investment choices
📋 More tax considerations
🏦 More retirement planning decisions
❤️ More opportunities to give
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 More wealth to eventually transfer

At a certain point, financial planning becomes less about doing more—and more about coordinating everything.

Have you ever had a family conversation about your estate plan?

It doesn't have to be uncomfortable.

You can start with something simple:

“I want you to understand what I've planned and why.”

For families with significant assets, communication can be just as important as the documents themselves.
